HCMC - The hearts of HCMC residents are all looking forward to the flooded areas of the Central region, with gifts and meaningful stories.

Supporting people in difficulty

These days, in Ho Chi Minh City, from 14 metro stations of Line 1 to the headquarters of wards, communes and community gathering points, the atmosphere of receiving relief goods is always bustling from morning to night. Each box of noodles, medicine bag, warm clothes, life jackets... was brought by the people with the hope of promptly sending them to the "central region" struggling during the flood.

At Ba Son Metro Station, Tran Nhu Mi, a third-year student at Saigon University, hurriedly hugged her clothes bag and a few life jackets, which were swims for the children in the house, to send. Knowing the information through social networks, Mi said that just seeing her house submerged in water and people fleeing the flood could not sit still.

"I think a life jacket can also help someone in times of danger, so I take advantage of the time to run around and send it to them after school" - Mi shared.

Among the people who continuously bring goods to the Youth Cultural House, Mr. Dang Ngoc Bach (Tan Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) drives a motorbike carrying two boxes of noodles and a few sets of warm clothes to donate. Stopping in a hurry, Mr. Bach said that a motorbike trip cannot carry much, but he will come back many more times.

"As much as there is, I contribute as much. I don't have much left, but if I can help people at this time, I have to help" - he shared, then so he left to turn around to prepare for the next shipment trip.

The spirit of "a piece when hungry is worth a package when full"

At noon, at the reception point of Quarter 10, Binh Quoi Ward, Mr. Van Thanh Bang (80 years old) and his wife slowly pushed 30 kg of rice to support, making many people feel emotional. His eyes were almost unable to see due to the consequences of illness when he was young, and his family's circumstances were also difficult, but when he heard that the Central region was in trouble, he immediately wanted to contribute.

"There is not much, just wanting to join hands with the people. There are many little things in life. I can just endure a little, as long as I can help outsiders overcome this moment" - Mr. Bang said in choking.

According to Ms. Vu Anh Dao, Head of Quarter 10, after only a short time of launching the campaign at the call of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front, the reception point has collected enough goods for three trucks. Among them, there are many gifts from people who are still facing many difficulties such as: the elderly, people with disabilities, lottery ticket sellers...

"Uncle Bang has enjoyed the elderly and disabled regime, life is not abundant, but still tries to contribute 1 million VND and 30 kg of rice. I am truly grateful for your kindness - Ms. Dao shared.

Each box of noodles, each bag of medicine, and bag of rice is filled with trucks like a bridge connecting love. For the people of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general, no matter how difficult it is, the spirit of "a piece when hungry is worth a package when full" is always maintained.

And while the Central region is struggling to cope with severe floods, that sharing not only has the meaning of support, but is also a motivation for people to be more confident in overcoming difficulties.

Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods
