Trung Gia commune is one of the areas most severely affected by the recent floods in Hanoi.
According to the people, Trung Kien village (Trung Gia commune) was recorded as the deepest flooded area, with some flooding points up to 3m, forcing hundreds of households to evacuate to schools and cultural houses.

The water has now receded, members of Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien's family (Trung Kien village, Trung Gia commune) took turns pumping mud, sweeping the house, and cleaning up furniture after the flood that lasted for more than 5 days.
Mr. Kien said that the flood has caused heavy damage to his family, including 5 freezer refrigerators serving as pigs and ham, which were damaged and lying around the corner of the yard after many days soaked in floodwaters.
Many other properties that could not be moved to higher ground were also damaged.
"My son's clothes were soaked, and his bag of books was also soaked in water. Yesterday, I went to buy a few sets of clothes and books for my child to go to school" - Mr. Kien said.

In Song Cong village, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Le (78 years old) said that the floodwaters rose rapidly from the early morning of October 8, leaving many families unable to react. Many households were then evacuated to safety, and their assets were submerged in floodwater.
My whole life here, I have never seen the water rise so high, some houses in the village are flooded nearly 2m deep, said Mr. Le.
Up to now, Mr. Le's family has finished cleaning the house to return to normal life. Some damaged furniture has been repaired, others must be replaced.

Prolonged flooding also caused many people with poultry farms in Trung Gia commune to be severely affected.
The water rose too quickly, the entire chicken farm of Mr. Nguyen Van Vy (Lai Son village) - the lowest place - was flooded up to 3-4m; the highest place was flooded more than 1m, causing nearly 10,000 chickens to die.
Although the family had prepared and moved the chickens to higher ground to avoid flooding and arranged a chicken storage area 50cm higher than at the time of Typhoon Yagi, the flood water rose too high, beyond the family's expectations.
With the number of chickens that died after the historic flood, Mr. Vy's family destroyed them by burying them in the vacant land of the farm.

Vice Chairman of Trung Gia Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen said that on October 9 and 10, the whole commune had 7 roads flooded 1-3m deep; the headquarters of the Commune People's Committee and many areas in 18 villages in the area were completely isolated.
4,042 houses were flooded; many properties such as TVs, refrigerators, machines, goods... were damaged; level 4 dike landslides of about 50m; 30 culverts and 5km of road were damaged, 50m of railway were washed away...
Regarding agricultural production: 378 hectares of rice, 50 hectares of vegetables, 150 pots of ornamental plants, 92 hectares of perennial plants, 2,926 pigs, 37,730 poultry, 60 hectares of aquaculture ponds were lost. The total damage in the commune was about 500 billion VND.

Currently, the commune has organized environmental sanitation and disease prevention in flooded areas after floods; continued to assess damage to agricultural production to propose support for affected people.
At the same time, develop a plan and support people to restore production, to ensure social security; inspect and review vulnerable points, flooded areas, and landslide risks in the area to promptly respond, ensure safety for people and property; survey and prepare emergency repair plans for traffic routes, irrigation, and drainage systems that have been eroded or severely damaged...
