Dak Lak - Reputable people in Dlie Ya commune silently contribute to preserving national cultural identity, mobilizing people to develop the economy and improve their lives.

Silent contribution

Dlie Ya commune (Dak Lak province) currently has more than 46,000 people, with 24 village and hamlet heads and 25 people with prestige among ethnic minorities.

This is an area with a large number of ethnic minorities living, with many traditional cultural values preserved through many generations.

In the process of socio-economic development, reputable people in the community are playing an important role, both propagating and mobilizing people to preserve cultural identity, and taking the lead in labor production, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and progressive life.

Mr. Y Thanh Niê (62 years old), used to be a prestigious person in Yun village, and also the head of the gong team of the village.

Attached to gongs since the age of 18, Mr. Y Thanh Niê always dedicates a lot of heart to preserving the traditional culture of the nation.

Previously, during his time participating in front work in the locality, he regularly participated in community activities and performed gongs with the people.

To this day, despite his old age, he still actively teaches how to play the gong, contributing to helping the younger generation understand and continue the traditional cultural values of his ancestors.

Not only active in cultural preservation, Mr. Y Thanh Niê is also one of the households with a fairly stable economy in the village.

His family currently has more than 2 hectares of coffee, bringing a relatively stable income. Thanks to that, he has the opportunity to spend time participating in community activities and teaching gongs to young people.

In village meetings, besides mobilizing people to preserve cultural identity, Mr. Y Thanh Niê regularly encourages families who are still in difficulty to work hard, boldly develop production, and gradually rise up to stabilize their lives.

I think that to preserve culture, first of all, people's lives must be stable. When the family economy develops, people will have conditions to participate in community activities, take care of their children and grandchildren and preserve the cultural features of the nation," Mr. Y Thanh Niê shared.

Similarly, Mr. Ma Le (71 years old), a veteran, village elder in the village, is also an active person in preserving traditional cultural values.

Currently, he is keeping a relatively complete set of gongs, including many pieces of different sizes. This is an asset that he has preserved for many years and wishes to pass on to his children and grandchildren to continue to promote in community cultural activities.

Besides preserving gongs, Mr. Ma Le's family also proactively develops the economy. With about 2 hectares of land growing coffee and durian, his family's economy is relatively stable.

From the production reality of his family, he regularly shares experiences, mobilizes people to actively work, take care of crops, and gradually increase income.

According to Mr. Ma Le, preserving traditional culture is not only the responsibility of the elderly but also requires the participation of the younger generation. Therefore, he regularly mobilizes his children and grandchildren to learn about gongs, participate in cultural activities of the village and continue the good customs and habits of the nation.

With prestige, responsibility and exemplary behavior in life, people like Mr. Y Thanh Niê and Ma Lê are always loved, trusted and followed by the people in the village.

From specific actions, they are contributing to bringing traditional cultural values to continue to be present in modern life, while encouraging people to develop the economy and improve the quality of life.

Mr. Mai Quoc Doanh - Chairman of Dlie Ya Commune People's Committee assessed that reputable people are individuals trusted by the community, with a certain voice and influence in people's lives.

In cultural preservation work, reputable people regularly mobilize families to preserve the language, costumes, customs, good habits and traditional cultural features of their compatriots.

Village elders and village chiefs also guide the younger generation to learn about folk songs, traditional musical instruments, and how to organize rituals and community activities.
