During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, it is forecast that the number of private cars, passenger cars and motorbikes moving to tourist destinations in mountainous areas will increase sharply.
Meanwhile, traffic routes connecting the Northwest region pass through high mountainous terrain, deep abysses with many hairpin turns, long slopes and narrow road surfaces.
Many sections often experience fog, drizzle or landslides, making visibility limited and the road surface slippery.
Especially during the seasonal transition, the weather changes rapidly, increasing the risk of accidents in the passes.
Reality shows that in the past time, many serious traffic accidents have occurred on mountainous roads in the Northwest region, causing great damage to people and property.

Most recently, at about 10:30 am on April 26, at Km 04+200 of the Nien - Na Bai inter-village road (Van Ho commune), a passenger car crashed into a negative slope about 100m deep.
At the above time, Mr. Luu Viet T. (born 1985, residing in Hanoi) was driving passenger car BKS 29B-170. XX carrying 25 people moving from Hanoi to Van Ho. When arriving at a steep, many curves, narrow road surface of about 2.5m, the driver lost control of the steering wheel, causing the car to plunge into an abyss.
The accident killed 1 person on the spot, 1 person died after being taken to the emergency room, and 6 others were injured.
On April 29, reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper recorded that streams of vehicles began to move from Hanoi area to the Northwest provinces.
On National Highway 6 through Phu Tho, there have begun to be signs of congestion, vehicles move with difficulty. In particular, this route has a series of sharp curves, continuous slopes, fog appearing in the early morning and late afternoon, increasing the risk of unsafety.
At a roadside stop, Mr. Tran Van Bac (from Ninh Binh) said that the number of vehicles going to the Northwest region has started to increase sharply because people travel and return to their hometown for holidays, making travel more difficult.
According to Mr. Bac, maintaining slow speed and close observation is very necessary when passing through pass roads during peak season.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Doan - Head of Tan Lac Traffic Police Station under Phu Tho Provincial Police, the traffic volume on National Highway 6 increased sharply during the holidays, while the route has many dangerous curves, so the risk of traffic unsafety is always high.
To limit accidents, functional forces strengthen patrols, controls and promote propaganda, requiring drivers to check safety systems such as brakes and tires when moving through steep passes.
In addition, traffic police focus on strictly handling violations that directly cause accidents such as overtaking in violation of regulations, speeding, using alcohol and stimulants while driving.
