On the evening of April 17, at the Buoi - Doi Can nut (Ba Dinh district), Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 - Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police deployed an inspection to handle violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents, focusing on the error of driving a vehicle with alcohol concentration in the breath.
At around 8:15 p.m., the working group stopped to check a young man driving a motorbike with license plate 36B5-252.XX with suspicious signs. The test results showed that this person had an alcohol concentration of 0.066 milligrams/liter of breath - the violation level was below 0.25mg/L.
At that time, the violator could not present a driver's license or register the vehicle according to regulations. The working group made a record and temporarily detained the vehicle for handling.


At 9:38 p.m., the working group continued to discover Mr. H.T.D (born in 2002, residing in Cam Khe district, Phu Tho province) driving a motorbike with license plate 19C1-435.XX violating an alcohol concentration of 0.215 mg/L. Working with the traffic police, this person admitted to having just drunk 2 glasses of beer with his friend before participating in traffic.
Only about 10 minutes later, the Task Force checked the young man to control the motorbike BKS 36M7-37.XX. The result of the alcohol level is up to 0.414mg/l - the highest level according to current regulations. The violator is identified as N.V.D (SN 1999, residing in Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province). He said he met his best friend, drank alcohol from dusk and drove his car home. With the above violation, the working group shall make a record and temporarily seize vehicles for handling.


According to the provisions of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, motorbike drivers with an alcohol concentration of less than 0.25mg/L of breath will be fined from 2 to 3 million VND, deducting 4 points from their driving license; if they violate from 0.4mg/L, they will be fined from 8 to 10 million VND and have their driving license revoked for 23 months.
"The Traffic Police have maintained the work of checking and handling alcohol concentration violations continuously for a long time, the number of violations has decreased significantly. However, there are still some people who maintain the habit of drinking alcohol before driving, especially on hot days.
Using alcohol and driving a vehicle is not only a violation of the law but also poses a serious risk of traffic accidents. We will continue to inspect and handle it strictly to contribute to ensuring traffic safety for people" - Major Duy Van Hiep, an officer of Road Traffic Police Team No. 2, said.
Also on the evening of April 17, the working group of Road Traffic Police Team No. 11 on duty at km20 + 300 of Thang Long Avenue service road discovered a case of a motorbike driver violating high alcohol concentration.
Accordingly, at about 20:24 on the same day, the working group discovered that Mr. N.D.T (born in 2006, residing in Thanh Hoa) violated the alcohol concentration at 0.607 mg/L of breath. At the time of inspection, this person also violated a series of other violations, such as the vehicle not having a license plate, not having a driver's license, not having a vehicle registration...
The working group then temporarily detained the vehicle and issued a fine according to regulations.
On the evening of April 17, the working group of Road Traffic Police Team No. 11 discovered 5 cases of alcohol concentration violations, all of whom were motorbike drivers.


As of March 15 to date, the Hanoi Traffic Police have handled 16,705 cases of traffic safety violations, temporarily detained 5,614 vehicles, revoked 656 driving licenses of all kinds and deducted 2,130 points from driving licenses. Up to 4,461 cases of alcohol concentration violations were handled alone.
