People leave resettlement areas
Resettlement area No. 2 in Cu Bong commune, Ea Kar district, Dak Lak province, has a total investment of nearly 300 billion VND, for 464 households.
This is an important item of the Krong rich Thuong reservoir project but has not yet been completed.
Although infrastructure such as electricity, water, schools, and roads have been guaranteed, people are still facing difficulties because they do not have land for cultivation. Currently, about 300 households are living here, while many have left to find a way to make a living.

At the end of March 2024, in the area along both sides of Dong Truong Son road (M'Drak district), more than 150 households arbitrarily leveled the ground, built illegal houses, turning this place into an illegal residential area. Many houses are solidly built for the purpose of long-term settlement.
On March 26, Permanent Vice Chairman of M'Drak District People's Committee Nguyen Duc Thao admitted that there are currently nearly 200 households from resettlement area No. 2 moving to live illegally.
The local government has repeatedly encouraged people to return but has been unsuccessful. If they want to handle the enforcement, the District People's Committee needs the approval of the Provincial People's Committee.
Commitment to promptly hand over cultivated land
According to the Dak Lak Provincial Project Management Board, resettlement area No. 2 still has two unfinished items, of which the landfill for residents has not been implemented.
The rice field project, with a total investment of 17 billion VND, has only completed 117/249 hectares, reaching 46.98% of the plan.
The representative of the Project Management Board acknowledged the slow progress and pledged to direct the contractor to speed up construction, completing by the end of 2025, in order to hand over cultivated land, helping people stabilize their lives.
The Krong rich Thuong reservoir project, started in 2009 with a total initial investment of nearly VND2,900 billion, is divided into two phases.
Due to problems in site clearance, at the end of 2018, the project's investment was adjusted to VND4,421 billion.
By 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) will continue to allocate an additional VND1,120 billion to implement phase 2, extending from 2023 to 2026.
