In the early morning of August 27, the floodwaters of the Buoi River (Kim Tan Commune, Thanh Hoa) rose very quickly, overflowing the dike, pouring into residential areas, leaving many households unable to react, having to rush to find higher ground to avoid the flood.
According to statistics, by 3:00 p.m. the same day, the entire Kim Tan commune had nearly 1,600 households with more than 5,100 people flooded. Of which, the area of the old Thach Dinh commune suffered the most damage with nearly 700 households (more than 2,800 people) flooded, forcing them to evacuate.
Recorded on the afternoon of August 27, many households in the villages of the old Thach Dinh commune (now Kim Tan commune) were flooded up to half their houses, people had to go to the 2nd floor or roof to live.
A representative of Kim Tan Commune People's Committee said that the locality is coordinating with the authorities to deploy many response measures, while ensuring the supply of essential necessities to households in deeply flooded areas that cannot be moved.
