On June 20, information from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council (GPC) said that regarding the work of merging and streamlining the administrative apparatus, the first session of the new Gia Lai Provincial People's Council is expected to be held on July 3.
Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the People's Council of Binh Dinh province coordinated with the Standing Committee of the People's Council of Gia Lai province to organize a conference to discuss and agree on a number of contents on the organization and operation of the new Gia Lai Provincial People's Council.
The conference was attended by Mr. Doan Van Phi - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Dinh province and Mr. Truong Van Dat - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Gia Lai province - co-chairmen.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing, exchanging, and agreeing to implement the contents of merging the People's Councils of the two provinces.
According to the plan, the first session of the new Gia Lai Provincial People's Council will be held on July 3, at the Provincial Convention Center.
At this session, the new Provincial People's Council will approve the following contents: announcing the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on appointing personnel to hold positions of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council; announce the Government's Resolution on appointing personnel to hold positions of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee;
Announcing the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council on approving the number and list of personnel holding the positions of deputy heads of departments and members of the People's Council of Gia Lai province; appointing personnel to be members of the People's Committee of Gia Lai province for the 2021 - 2026 term...
The session will also approve the submissions to establish the People's Council of Gia Lai province; establish the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the People's Council of Gia Lai province; approve the expected regular session of the new Gia Lai Provincial People's Council in 2025.
In addition, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province submitted a meeting to report on the socio-economic development plan and local budget for the last 6 months of 2025; approved the submission on the policy to support cadres and civil servants of Gia Lai province to work at the Provincial Administrative Center in Quy Nhon; approved the submission of the Provincial People's Committee on the investment policy for the construction of public housing...
The Standing Committees of the People's Councils of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai provinces require relevant agencies, departments and branches to carefully prepare the contents and submissions for the meeting, ensuring the meeting was a great success.
Regarding the merger of Gia Lai province with Binh Dinh province, the new Gia Lai province will have 135 commune-level administrative units, including 110 communes and 25 wards. After the merger, the new Gia Lai province will have a natural area of over 21,550km2, the second largest in the country (after the new Lam Dong province), with a population of about 3.5 million people.
