Tuyen Quang - The changes in the northernmost part of the Fatherland always leave a strong impression and image of the Border Guard.

Tuyen Quang province has over 277km of border bordering China. In recent years, the front lines of the Fatherland have changed significantly, and the lives of the people have had many positive changes.

This obvious change left a strong impression on the Border Guard. Not only maintaining the border, the soldiers with blue ranks always accompany the people on the journey to escape poverty, eliminating backward customs.

As one of the most difficult localities in Tuyen Quang, the border commune of Son Vi has an area of 110.62km2, with a population of nearly 20,000 people. Here, the image of the Border Guard accompanying the villagers has become too familiar. From helping poor households build houses, guiding people on farming, eliminating bad customs to building a border and border marker self-management model.

From the beginning of 2025 to now, Border Guard units and stations under the Border Guard of Tuyen Quang province have organized more than 1,200 legal propaganda sessions, attracting tens of thousands of participants; opened 49 literacy classes for more than 1,100 students. The Border Guard also coordinated with the government to mobilize resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

In 2025 alone, the Border Guard contributed nearly 2,200 working days to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. The movements "Spring Border Warming the hearts of the villagers", "Stepping your steps to school", "Accompanying women in the border" brought many practical results.

When coming to Son Vi commune, mentioning the Border Guards, the villagers and villagers opened a gentle smile. The villagers consider soldiers as family, as a part of being closely attached to them.

Ms. Giang Thi Tho (Son Vi commune, Tuyen Quang province) said: "The Border Guard is like a fortress that holds the every land of the border. The villagers often work with the army to patrol the border. When the army propagated, the village elders and village chiefs urged their children and grandchildren not to illegally cross the border and stop backward customs.

The presence of the Border Guard helped Son Vi change his face. The love between the army and the people is becoming more and more connected through practical actions".

According to Mr. Giang Seo Lu, in recent years, thanks to the regular participation of the Border Guard, the security and order situation in the border area has had many positive changes.

"The Border Guard not only patrols and protects the border and landmarks but also goes down to the villages to propagate the law, reminding people not to cooperate with violations. Thanks to that, social evils have decreased significantly, people can work and live with peace of mind. I am truly lucky to have the companionship of the Border Guard, Mr. Lu shared.

According to Mr. Lu, the image of the Border Guard sticking to the village has become familiar to the people of Son Vi. The Border Guard also supports people in building roads, repairing houses, helping with production days, contributing to making the border area more and more spacious and clean.

For our people, the Border Guard is truly a solid support, helping to maintain a peaceful border and build our homeland to develop more and more, said Mr. Lu.

According to Major Nong Quang Lap - Deputy Political Commissar of Son Vi Border Guard Station, the unit clearly defines the motto of action "Peaceful borders, new stable internal borders", considering maintaining territorial sovereignty and national border security as a key political task. At the same time, it is closely linked with the people, helping them develop their socio-economy, and strengthening the trust of ethnic minorities in the Party, State, and Army.

According to Captain Do Quang Huy - Captain of Mass Mobilization, Ban May Border Guard Station, each soldier understands that each piece of border land, each sovereignty milestone is not only a geographical boundary, but a symbol of honor, a gathering place for the will of independence and aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people.

With the support of the Border Guard, the steep place of Son Vi has had positive changes. This is reflected specifically in figures such as the average value of harvested products/ha of crop land reaching 40 million VND; implementing 73 models of renovating ornamental gardens to bring efficiency; the poverty rate decreasing by an average of 5.67%/year; eliminating 745 temporary houses...

Similar to Son Vi, the image of the Border Guard is also deeply imprinted, preserved in the hearts of the people of Tung Vai commune (Tuyen Quang province).

Tung Vai has a terrain cut off from a large area, with an unconcentrated population, mainly ethnic minorities such as Mong, Dao, Han... The commune has a border of over 33km long with 56 border markers directly managed and protected by Tung Vai Border Guard Station, Border Guard of Tuyen Quang province.

In recent times, along with the task of managing and protecting national borders, Tung Vai Border Guard Station has been assessed as a bright spot in mass mobilization work at the grassroots level to effectively implement the Project "Reducing early marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority areas in the period of 2021-2025".

With the motto "Going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every subject", from the beginning of 2025 to now, Tung Vai Border Guard Station has sent many officers and soldiers to coordinate with the commune government to participate in the work of propagating, disseminating and educating legal knowledge to people in villages and hamlets in the area.

The propaganda content focuses on the Law on Marriage and Family, regulations on handling early marriage and consanguineous marriage; propaganda methods suitable to the actual situation of each residential area and household group, through Vietnamese and ethnic minority languages. To promote effectiveness, forms of propaganda are innovated, flexible and diverse.

Captain Vu Xuan Hung - Captain of the Mass Mobilization Team, Tung Vai Border Guard Station said: "Officers and soldiers participating in the propaganda work on prevention and control of early marriage and consanguineous marriage are those who are fluent in the speech, writing, customs and practices of local ethnic minorities.

Since the beginning of the year, the unit has coordinated with local authorities to organize propaganda and distribute leaflets to over 1,500 people. Along with that, 100% of villages and hamlets in Tung Vai commune have included the elimination of early marriage and consanguineous marriage in the village's codes and conventions for management, reminders and strict handling if there are violations".

To effectively promote the Border Guard, the role of village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people has been used to promptly propagate, educate, and persuade cases at risk of early marriage and consanguineous marriage in the locality.

Mr. Giang Mi Chu (Tung Vai commune) said that over the years, the Border Guard has become a familiar support for people in the border area.

"Not only keeping the border peaceful, the soldiers also regularly go to villages and hamlets to instruct us on how to do business, raise livestock, and grow crops to improve the family economy.

Thanks to the persistent mobilization of the Border Guard, many outdated customs have been gradually eliminated, and the situation of drug addiction in the village has also decreased significantly. The people's lives are therefore more stable, they work with peace of mind, and are attached to their homeland and border," said Mr. Chu.

From the beginning of 2025 until now, there have been no early marriages and consanguineous marriages in Tung Vai commune. The whole commune has 86 students studying at universities and colleges nationwide. The commune has created jobs for 966 people of working age who work outside the province, and 37 people who work abroad.

The support of Tung Vai Border Guard Station in eliminating child marriage and consanguineous marriage not only contributes to building a new cultural life in the border area, but also fosters a bright future for the younger generation.
