Hanoi - Veterans of Dong Da ward are tasked with participating in protecting security, order, and ensuring safety at the live broadcast point of the parade.

"Every task is completed"

Early in the morning of September 2, more than 20 veterans of Dong Da ward were present at Ho Dac Di street area to carry out a special assigned task - participating in ensuring security and order in the live broadcast area of the National Day parade on September 2 to serve the people.

At 6am on September 2, about 1,000 people gathered at the LED screen point on the sidewalk of Ho Dac Di Street to watch the live broadcast of the parade.

The number of people gathered was too large, overflowing onto the road. Lieutenant Colonel Nghiem Phu Quang (67 years old) - a member of the Veterans Association of Dong Da Ward, and female ward police officers walking along the sidewalk reminded people to stand tightly and not spill onto the road because it would be dangerous when vehicles passed by.

Every time people's vehicles pass through the location, veterans also participate in traffic flow, not leaving congestion.

In another corner, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thoa (65 years old) supported another veteran in finding a convenient seat and arranging seats to easily watch the live TV show.

Other members of the Veterans Association stood along the live broadcast point to form a "soft median strip" between the monitoring area and the roadway to ensure the safety of the crowd.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duc Loi (62 years old) - Vice Chairman of the Veterans Association of Dong Da Ward said that at this year's parade, the Veterans Association of the ward was assigned to work with the forces of the Ward People's Committee and mass organizations to participate in maintaining order at the live broadcast point of the parade.

"20 members of the Veterans Association, most of whom are over 60 years old, are present on time, performing assigned tasks correctly and strictly. We are soldiers, no matter the task, big or small, we will try our best to complete it," said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duc Loi.

A message to the next generation

Sharing with reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thoa said that he enlisted in 1978, then participated in the war to protect the northern border in 1979.

After that, Mr. Thoa worked at Division 361 (Air Defense - Air Force), with the task of managing and protecting the airspace of Hanoi Capital, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, and other important goals.

40 years ago, Mr. Thoa attended the National Day parade on September 2, 1985.

"Every ceremony brings me a lot of emotions. This year's parade is very large-scale, both on land, in the air, and at sea, demonstrating the strength of our nation in the era of rising up.

Seeing the Fatherland and the mountain paintings so majestically, seeing the solidarity and spirit of our army and people like this, how can soldiers like us not be moved", Mr. Thoa shared.

Lieutenant Colonel Nghiem Phu Quang said that seeing the ranks of the parade groups reminded him of his teammates.

"In the past, there was no such thing as a strict uniform as now. We are extremely lucky to witness the historic moment of the country. Hopefully, future generations will follow in our ancestors' footsteps, building an increasingly prosperous and developed country," the veteran shared.

At the end of the live broadcast, the veterans and other forces stabilized and divided the flow so that people could return home safely. They smiled happily together when the task was completed.
