A fulcrum for difficult lives
As a household with housing difficulties in Dak Dro commune, Krong No district (Dak Nong), in March 2025, Mr. Nguyen The Lan's family, village 9, was supported with 60 million VND, starting the construction of a new house.
In addition to the money from his family, Mr. Lan was also supported by the Women's Union of Krong No district with 10 million VND; youth union members and militia of Dak Dro commune supported the construction day.
After only 20 days of construction, the house has basically completed the rough construction. The shape of the dream house has become clear, Mr. Lan and his wife count the days to move into the new house.
Mr. Lan emotionally said: "My wife and I are all over 80 years old. The family is in a difficult situation because one child has a mental illness and is unable to work. After more than 20 years of living in a makeshift wooden house, this year my husband and I have a new, solid and safe house, so we are very happy and excited.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huan, Dak Hop village, Dak Dro commune, is one of the poor households receiving livelihood support and housing support. From this support, Ms. Huan's family is determined to escape poverty in the coming years.
Ms. Huan said: "My wife and I are nearly 70 years old this year, taking care of 5 orphaned grandchildren. The family was very excited to receive housing support and cow support from the State. This is the motivation for my family to gradually rise up in life".
Joining hands for the poor
Since the beginning of March, Dak Dro commune has strongly implemented the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. In addition to funding from national target programs and the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses launched by the Prime Minister, many houses are built with "compatriotism" thanks to the cooperation and support of philanthropists, the business community and the whole society.
In particular, responding to the call of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, businesses, agencies, organizations, collectives, individuals, and all classes of people in Dak Dro commune have joined hands to contribute.
Accordingly, those with assets contribute assets, those with meritorious services contribute meritorious services, those with less contribute are few, those with more contribute a lot. The goal is to make the poor and disadvantaged have an increasingly fulfilling life.
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Han, Vice Chairman of Dak Dro Commune People's Committee, said that the movement was widely deployed, truly spreading the spirit of mutual love, the spirit of great national unity and arousing community responsibility in caring for the poor, the disadvantaged, and people in special circumstances.
Thereby, the movement not only has the meaning of social security but also demonstrates the strength of the great national unity bloc, building new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction, helping people stabilize their lives in the long term.

In the past, Dak Dro commune has taken advantage of resources to support people to escape poverty. The locality strives to reduce about 25 poor households, bringing the number of poor households in the commune to below 44 households," said Ms. Han.
According to the Steering Committee for the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Dak Nong province, by the end of April 2025, more than 100 houses had been completed and handed over to the people.
From this result, localities will have more motivation and determination to "reach the finish line" in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister.
At the Online Meeting with the Prime Minister on implementing the Movement to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses nationwide (morning of May 11), Dak Nong province set a target that by the end of June 2025, 540 houses under the program and banf will be completed and handed over to the people.
