At 5:25 p.m. on October 24, the Nhon - Cau Giay metro line had a problem after more than 2 months of operation.
Immediately after the technical problem occurred, at the station, in addition to making an announcement on the loudspeaker, metro staff also refunded tickets to passengers who had just purchased tickets but had not used them.
The incident caused the trains to stop running for 45 minutes and many passengers were affected because it was the afternoon rush hour. By 6 p.m. the same day, the incident was resolved and the trains were operating normally again.
This is the first time the Nhon - Cau Giay metro line has recorded an incident since it opened for commercial operation on August 8.
According to the representative of the management and operation unit, Mr. Vu Hong Truong - General Director of Hanoi Metro, this was a power outage on the third rail from Cau Giay station to Le Duc Tho station.
According to Mr. Truong, this incident is related to the project's equipment, not due to the operator's fault. The contractor is coordinating with Hanoi Metro to check the equipment and carry out warranty responsibilities according to the contract.
"This is a situation within 57 pre-calculated incident scenarios," Mr. Vu Hong Truong informed.
So far, both trains that Hanoi is operating have encountered incidents during operation. However, the incidents are all "within the scenario" (Nhon - Cau Giay metro has 57 scenarios and Cat Linh - Ha Dong has 63 scenarios - PV).
Of these, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line has encountered at least 4 incidents that forced trains to stop. Accordingly, most recently on September 17, 2024, a train running from Cat Linh to Ha Dong suddenly stopped when it arrived at Phung Khoang station, Ha Dong district.
According to the route, the train had to pass through five more stations: Van Quan station, Ha Dong station, La Khe station, Van Khe station and stop at Yen Nghia station. The Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center then coordinated to arrange four more bus routes to transfer passengers from the stations. About an hour after the incident, the train returned to normal operation.
Information from the operating unit, the train stopped due to an axle counting error at Yen Nghia station.
Previously, on February 11, 2023, a Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro train was moving towards the inner city when it suddenly stopped in Thanh Xuan district. According to the operator, the train had to stop in the middle of the road because Cat Linh station had a signal problem.
On May 23, 2022, while operating, a Cat Linh - Ha Dong train also stopped in the middle of the road, causing confusion for passengers. At that time, Hanoi Metro said that due to rain and slippery tracks, the automatic steering system switched to manual steering. The mode change process took several dozen seconds.
Another situation on December 7, 2021, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro train practiced for the first time responding to a signal error that occurred at the Cat Linh station signal shaft counter. At that time, there were about 40 passengers on the train. Cat Linh station had to close for more than 30 minutes to fix the problem, while many passengers were "scared".
Fortunately, the incidents were all within the response plan of the operating unit and did not cause any damage. In the incidents, passengers were also promptly evacuated to ensure their safety and rights.
