On the evening of July 22, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh (44 years old, residing in Muong Xen commune) said that there was heavy rain in the area from the night of July 21 until July 22, along with the hydropower plant (in the old Ta Ca commune) regulating the release of water, causing the Nam Mo river to rise rapidly, causing flooding from around 8:00 p.m. on July 22. Some states were flooded more than 1 meter deep.

"The water is still rising, tonight we will not dare to sleep for fear of insecurity. Hopefully, the rain will stop and the water will recede, which is very dangerous, Thanh shared.
On Facebook, many people in Muong Xen commune also shared photos and videos of deep flooding in this locality, in which some of the people's properties were swept away by water before they could be evacuated.

Floods also caused local disruptions to some roads in mountainous communes of Nghe An, including Nhon Mai commune. In particular, in Nhon Mai commune, 3 houses were swept away by floods, dozens of houses were at risk of landslides, and the whole commune was completely isolated.
