Quang Tri - Prolonged heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 1 caused fish raised in cages to be shocked and die en masse.

On June 13, the People's Committee of Cua Viet town (Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province) said that heavy rains that have lasted for many days, causing fresh water from upstream to flow into the Hieu River, causing a series of fish raised in cages of local people to die from water retention.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairman of Cua Viet Town People's Committee, there are currently 10 households raising fish in cages on Hieu River with a total of 30 cages, raising about 32,000 fish of all kinds such as catfish, perch, and perch. In recent days, due to rainwater pouring in from upstream, the salinity has suddenly decreased, causing fish to be shocked and die en masse. Initial damage is estimated at about 1.8 billion VND.
