According to the reflection of people in Tra On district, the water in the plant is often cut off. When there is water, the water source is poor quality, yellow, dirty, and has a strong smell of Cl.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh in Vinh Trinh Hamlet, Vinh Xuan Commune said that every day, the water supply outage is about 2-3 times, each time lasting 1 - 2 hours.
According to Ms. Hanh, when she was laundry, the water was turned off, sometimes after a while it stopped being supplied. The water is yellow and black like coffee water, and also has a very unpleasant Cla smell.

"To have minimum domestic water during water shortages, the family had to buy and repair 7 large and small containers to store rainwater for use when the water supply was stopped or the water appeared dirty," Ms. Hanh added.
Similar to the same situation, Mr. Le Cong Hau said: "We paid to use clean water, unexpectedly after a few days, the container saw dirt at the bottom. With water like this, if used for a long time, how will your health be?"
Mr. Hau's insecurity is also the common sentiment of many households living in Tra On district, when their trust in clean tap water has gradually eroded.
In response to the people's reflection, Mr. Tran Quoc Viet - Head of the inter-commune water supply system of Vinh Xuan - explained that the pipeline system, over 100km long, serving over 4,500 households in Vinh Xuan, Thuan Thoi, and Tich Thien, is prone to rupture due to people digging it right. Power outages also often cause water supply disruptions.
Mr. Viet also explained that during the repair process, soil and sand can get into the pipeline, and when the water supply returns to a high pressure, this amount of dissolved substances can easily be swept away by the flow to households.
"The amount of residual chlorine in the water after treatment is always guaranteed within 0.2 - 1mg/l (according to the standards of the Ministry of Health) to ensure the water in households at the end of the source and the residual chlorine ≥ 0.2 mg/l, so in the watershed households, the amount of residual chlorine must be guaranteed = 1 mg/l, so sometimes it causes the feeling of heavy smell of residual chlorine," Mr. Viet added.
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Luu Nhuan - Director of the Center for Clean Water for Rural Areas in Vinh Long province - said that the whole province currently has 92 clean water supply stations serving more than 187,000 households. "The Board of Directors has a plan to submit to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to invest in a mobile power generation system to overcome the power outage," Mr. Nhuan added.
