Recently, the water level of the Red River passing through Phu Tho province has dropped. The flow rate on the river has decreased, the total flow rate is lower than the average of many years. According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, it is forecasted that from February 16 to 28, the total river flow in Yen Bai (Phu Tho in the downstream) will be 52% lower than the average of many years in the same period.
Traveling along the Red River through many districts and towns of Phu Tho province in mid-February, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters easily recorded that the river water level dropped, many large alluvial plains and sand dunes appeared, causing the river flow in many places to be narrow.

Even some sections of the river in Phu Tho town, Lam Thao district, at first glance seem to be walkable. Despite the cold and rainy weather, many people have gone to the riverbank to fish, even wading into the water to fish.
It can be seen that the water level in Lam Thao town, Lam Thao district has dropped very low. Two people, one standing on a boat, the other standing in the middle of the river casting nets and fishing.

Not far away, at the Red River section passing through the foot of Ngoc Thap bridge, Phu Tho town, the river atmosphere was even more bustling with one person standing on a fishing boat, many others standing on a fishing boat.

After a few hours of working on the river, Mr. Quyet - a resident of Zone 1, Ha Thach Commune (Phu Tho Town) and a number of other boat owners returned to shore, sorted the fish they caught and delivered them on the spot to traders.

According to Mr. Quyet, it has been a long time since the Red River has dried up like that, so fishing is more effective. In this area, there are many types of fish, of which the most popular are fish: Chip, beef, crab, kumquat, nheo, lentils... The largest fish that people in the area have ever caught is black carp, weighing about 40 kg.

"Currently, the most expensive fish here is kumquat. Depending on the size, the small type is a few strands, the price is about 250 thousand VND/kg, the larger type is 1 kg, the larger type is about 500 thousand VND/kg, the larger type can reach 1 million VND/kg. For the whole muscle, even though it is only 1 or 2 fingers, the price is high, up to 300 thousand VND/kg, but it is not certain to be available for sale" - Mr. Quyet shared.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting's Short-term Hydrological Forecast and Warning bulletin No. 49 dated February 18, the actual water level of the Thao River (Red River) measured at Phu Tho station at 7:00 a.m. this morning was 10.67 m. It is forecasted that by 7:00 p.m. the same day, the water level here will drop to 10.55 m, and by 1:00 a.m. on February 19, it will be 10.50 m.
