On May 14, information from Vu Quang National Park said that while officials of the Park were patrolling and protecting the forest in the forest area managed by Sao La Forest Protection Station (facility 3), 2 Asian elephants were discovered.
The location of the discovery belongs to the border area between the forest managed by Vu Quang National Park and Ngan Truoi Cam Trang lake.

Currently, the number of Asian elephants is decreasing rapidly, and some places have become extinct. According to Vietnamese law, Asian elephants belong to group IB - a group of endangered, precious, and rare wild animals that are prioritized for protection.
Ha Tinh is one of the few regions in our country that still has a natural distribution of elephants, especially the Vu Quang National Park area and adjacent and contiguous areas.
According to assessments, the total number of elephants in Ha Tinh is currently about 6 - 10 individuals.
