On December 19, in the area of Truoc Dong Lake (Ba Na Commune, Da Nang City), people discovered about 3 "strange" fish, suspected to be dragon and starfish, floating on the lake surface.

According to images recorded by local people, the two fish were taken up and were about 1m long, weighing more than 20kg each. Because they have just died, these individuals have not given off their scent. The fish was brought to Hoang Van Thai Street, next to Truoc Dong Lake, leaving many fish scales scattered on the road, with a hardness similar to shells.

Of which, the two individuals have been picked up and taken away by the people, and there is currently a fish carcass on the lake that is decomposing and giving off a foul smell. The remaining individual floating on the lake is believed to have died 1-2 days ago, with a foul smell and flies all around.
After receiving the information, Ba Na commune sent officers to the scene to record and verify. The representative of the People's Committee of the commune said that the locality will not pick up the remaining fish carcasses to shore but will naturally decompose them in the lake, and will continue to monitor them for the next 1-2 days to promptly detect if there is an unusual fish death phenomenon.

Some local people believe that these fish individuals may have been released by humans from other places, but due to changes in the water environment, they cannot be adapted.

According to research, the giant fish (scientific name Arapaima gigas) is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, originating from the Amazon River basin (South America), not endemic to Vietnam.
When grown, the average weight of the fish is about 100-200kg, about 2m long. This is an animal that eats solid foods and has the potential to affect the ecosystem if released into an inappropriate natural environment.
