Phu Tho develops infrastructure, creating breakthroughs in development

Phu Tho - One of the important driving forces in recent times is promoting infrastructure development, especially transportation.

Creating changes from key projects

After the merger, Phu Tho has more than 30,700km of roads, nearly 680km of inland waterways and nearly 113km of national railways.

This is a favorable condition for the province to develop a multimodal transportation network, strengthen links between regions and expand connections with localities in the region.

Some key projects have entered the completion phase. To date, the inter-regional traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C to Lao Cai and the route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway are expected to be completed and put into operation.

These projects are of great significance in shortening travel time, increasing goods circulation capacity and expanding development space towards the Northwest provinces.

Along with projects about to be completed, many large construction sites are being accelerated.

On the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway, section Km19+000 - Km53+000, the site has been handed over about 97%. Four construction packages achieved a realized value of about 1,895 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 23% of the contract value.

A series of items including roadbeds, bridges, tunnels, box culverts, approach bridges and Hoa Son cable-stayed bridges were deployed simultaneously. Among them, Hoa Son bridge is an item with complex construction conditions due to crossing Hoa Binh lake, divided terrain and the requirement to organize construction on water surface.

The contractor is mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment, dividing into many construction teams to control progress, quality and safety.

At the Hoa Binh - Hanoi regional liaison road project and Son La expressway, about 82% of the site has been handed over. The construction value reached more than 660 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 40% of the contract value. 18/20 bridges on the route have been deployed along with many roadbed and road surface items.

IC2 and IC5 intersections on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway are also under construction. The project reached nearly 16% of the contract value. Some bridge items are expected to be completed earlier than planned by 4-6 months if weather conditions are favorable.

The above results show that Phu Tho's transport infrastructure is making clear progress. Along with transportation, the province is also promoting administrative procedure reform, creating a favorable environment for investment.

The "24 Hour Green Channel" and "50% Green Channel" mechanisms are applied to shorten the time to resolve procedures.

These drivers contributed to bringing GRDP in the first 6 months of the year to increase by 10.18%, ranking first in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, ranking 7th in the country. In which, industry and construction increased by 14.9%, and industry alone increased by nearly 16%.

Expanding development space from infrastructure

From the foundation that has been built, Phu Tho determines that infrastructure will continue to be one of the four strategic breakthroughs in the coming time.

According to the plan, in the period 2026 - 2030, the province is expected to allocate about 77.5 trillion VND to invest in transport infrastructure. In the third and fourth quarters of 2026 alone, 26 projects are expected to be started with a total investment of about 35,000 billion VND.

Among them, the Viet Tri - Hoa Binh road project, connecting the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with the Hoa Binh - Son La expressway, has a total investment of about 15,300 billion VND in BOT form. The Ring Road 5 project, the section from IC5 intersection to Vinh Thinh bridge, has a total capital of more than 3,360 billion VND.

The province also continues to complete traffic planning on both roads, railways and waterways. The two corridors Noi Bai - Viet Tri and Vinh Yen - Viet Tri - Hoa Binh are oriented to become important development axes, increasing connectivity with Hanoi, industrial centers and tourist areas.

Transport infrastructure will be deployed synchronously with the network of industrial parks, industrial clusters and urban areas. Phu Tho is expected to focus on deploying Doan Hung, Phu Ninh, Trung Ha II industrial parks; and at the same time establish Dam Duong industrial cluster. The whole province aims to plan 31 industrial parks and 66 industrial clusters.

To ensure progress, the province will continue to handle outstanding projects. Task Force 751 has reviewed 149 projects facing difficulties and prolonged obstacles.

To date, 50 projects have been dismantled, the remaining 99 projects have had handling plans and strive to be completed before December 31, 2026.

With an approach that takes infrastructure as the foundation, Phu Tho is shifting from completing individual roads to forming a synchronous connection network. This is considered the key to expanding the economic space, increasing investment attraction and creating a foundation for the goal of double-digit growth in 2026.
