Pleiku ward, located in the center of the new Gia Lai province, will officially come into operation from June 25, 2025.

These days, officers and employees of Pleiku ward and functional departments are urgently arranging documents and records to move to the new headquarters at 81 Hung Vuong street.
Mr. Doan Huu Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Pleiku city, Gia Lai province said: "Pleiku ward was established on the basis of the arrangement of 5 communes and wards including: Hoa Lu, Tay Son, Hoi Thuong, Phu Dong and Tra Da. Pleiku ward has a population of about 79,000 people".

Officers and employees of Pleiku ward will work at the new, spacious and modern headquarters, with a total construction investment of more than 150 billion VND.
Previously, the local government built the headquarters of the People's Council and the People's Committee of Pleiku city. However, when there was a policy of streamlining the apparatus and establishing a two-level government, this headquarters was transferred to Pleiku ward.
Currently, the headquarters has completed many construction items, with a total area of 10,474m2. The administrative building has 9 floors above ground and 1 basement, with a height of 40.1 meters.

On the 9th floor of the building, employees are transporting hundreds of boxes of records, papers, and documents from the headquarters of the old wards and communes to the archives.
tables and chairs, offices, reception rooms, electrical equipment, lighting systems, file storage systems, fire prevention and fighting systems, etc. are all carefully and fully prepared.
When officially put into operation, Pleiku ward will ensure convenient and quick service of administrative procedures for people and businesses.

According to the People's Committee of Gia Lai province, Pleiku ward is the unit chosen as the point to implement the two-level government model, focusing on handling administrative procedures and document management.
From June 30, the remaining communes and wards in the province will simultaneously test this model, based on the results and experience drawn from the operation process in Pleiku ward.
Regarding the merger of Gia Lai province with Binh Dinh province, the new Gia Lai province will have 135 commune-level administrative units, including 110 communes and 25 wards. After the merger, the new Gia Lai province will have a natural area of over 21,550km2, the second largest in the country (after the new Lam Dong province), with a population of about 3.5 million people.
