On the morning of November 21, Mr. Ho Viet Can - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dac Pring Commune (Da Nang City) - said that the authorities had organized an emergency evacuation of 7 households in village 57 on the evening of November 20 because this area was located right under a hill with a large crack and a very high risk of landslides.
Mr. Can informed: "Heavy rain lasting from November 16 to 20 caused the hill surface to show cracks around the bow and subsidence, directly threatening many households in the village". After receiving the report from the village, the Commune People's Committee sent a working group to inspect the scene.

According to records, the crack was located on the top of the hill, about 80m from the residential area, about 150m long. Some cracks are 0.3 - 1m wide, the subsidence of the slide is 0.8 - 1.5m lower than the natural level. Worryingly, the route cracked into 3 layers, 15 - 20m apart; deformed at many points up to 1 - 1.5m.
On the evening of November 20, the Commune Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, the Police, the Military and the Dac Pring Border Guard Station urgently evacuated 7/22 households, of which 4 households were temporarily living in relatives' houses, 3 households were deployed at the Commune Health Station. The authorities also stretched ropes and put up warning signs, prohibiting people from passing through dangerous areas.
According to the government's assessment, if the crack continues to widen, 9 other households with 33 people in the village may also be affected. The commune has provided food, provisions and encouraged people to feel secure in temporary residence.
The People's Committee of Dac Pring commune recommended that the city promptly inspect, guide handling, and at the same time advise on announcing an emergency situation regarding landslides in village 57, creating a basis for proposing to build a new resettlement area for people.

Previously, after storm No. 13, in village 49A, Dac Pring commune, the area behind Mr. PLong Huong's house had a crack about 13m long and 40cm deep; Ms. Kring Thi Vac's house also had a crack of more than 30m, down nearly 2m. The cracks are all located close to residential areas, posing a great risk of landslides.
The authorities have urgently supported the evacuation of 5 households with 20 people, while erecting fences and propagating that people absolutely must not approach the cracked area".
Along with the response work, the Dak Pring commune government visited, presented gifts, and encouraged affected households, helping people stabilize their spirits in the face of dangerous landslides.
