On September 20, information from the Hanoi Market Management Department (the standing agency of the Hanoi Steering Committee 389), Market Management Team No. 5 coordinated with functional forces to strengthen inspection and strictly handle many violations related to moon cakes, candy and children's toys.
As a result of the peak inspection during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Market Management Team No. 5 discovered and handled 6 violations related to food hygiene and safety and the sale of children's toys of unknown origin.
The total amount of administrative fines is 52 million VND. Notably, the authorities forced the destruction of nearly 1,000 moon cakes of unknown origin, along with nearly 500 smuggled children's toys. The total value of the goods forced to be destroyed was up to 102 million VND.
A representative of the Hanoi Market Management Department said that the business of smuggled goods, especially food items of unknown origin, poses a great risk to the health of consumers. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the demand for shopping and consuming confectionery and food increases sharply, the situation of mixing goods of unknown origin is even more complicated.
In the coming time, the Hanoi Market Management Department will continue to maintain inspections, focusing on preventing counterfeit goods, poor quality goods and food safety violations, contributing to building a healthy business environment.
