Quang Binh urgently responds to storm No. 1, ready to evacuate people

Quang Binh - The Provincial People's Committee requested the entire locality to proactively respond to storm No. 1, prepare a plan to evacuate people.

On June 11, according to the Quang Binh Hydrometeorological Station, the tropical depression in the eastern area of Hoang Sa archipelago has strengthened into a storm, the number 1 storm in 2025, with the international name WUTIP.

The People's Committee of Quang Binh province requires closely monitoring the developments of storms, floods, and timely information to authorities at all levels and people to proactively take preventive measures.

Localities need to count and strictly manage ships and provide guidance on safe shelters. In particular, review and prepare evacuation plans for people in dangerous areas, low-lying areas, coastal areas, river mouths, and areas at risk of flash floods and landslides.

The authorities are required to be ready for rescue. Investors check the safety of the project.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with relevant units to review flood prevention plans and ensure the safety of dams, especially vulnerable dams and reservoirs with valve gates.

The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns are required to closely monitor the developments of storms, floods, organize forces, means and materials to be ready to participate in rescue and timely handling of possible situations.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on June 11, the center of storm No. 1 (storm WUTIP) was at about 16.7 degrees North latitude - 112.5 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Hoang Sa archipelago.

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 (62-74km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of 10-15km/h.

It is forecasted that by 1:00 p.m. on June 12, storm No. 1 will move in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of 10-15km/h and is likely to strengthen. The center of the storm is located at about 17.3 degrees North latitude -110.2 degrees East longitude, in the sea area south of Hainan Island (China).
