From July 6 - 9, Steering Committee 515 of Quang Ninh province coordinated with Viet Hung ward to take samples of martyrs' remains at Viet Hung Martyrs' Cemetery, serving DNA testing.
Viet Hung Martyrs' Cemetery currently has 160 martyrs' graves, of which 73 graves need to be sampled for DNA testing.
The process of excavation and separation to take samples at the cemetery faced many difficulties because many graves had been restored many times; accessing small urns required carefulness, meticulousness and took a lot of time.
The participating forces have closely coordinated, complied with professional procedures in excavation, separation, sampling and preservation of specimens; and at the same time ensured solemnity at the cemetery.
Quang Ninh province currently manages 22 martyrs' cemeteries with 3,802 graves, distributed in 15 communes, wards, and special zones. Of which, 803 martyrs' graves need information to be identified.
Implementing the Campaign "500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of remains of martyrs with missing information" launched by the National Steering Committee 515, Quang Ninh has developed a plan and synchronously deployed tasks according to the direction of the Central Government and Military Region 3.
As of July 9, 13/15 localities in Quang Ninh have completed taking samples of martyrs' remains for DNA testing.
The whole province has completed sampling at 709/803 martyrs' graves, reaching 88.3% of the plan; collected 636 samples of martyrs' remains, reaching 89.7%.
After Viet Hung Martyrs' Cemetery, sampling work continued to be implemented at 2 martyrs' cemeteries in Binh Lieu commune and Mong Cai 3 ward.
Quang Ninh strives to complete the sampling of martyrs' remains for DNA testing in the province before July 27.
