On August 24, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province signed a telegram on focusing on emergency response to storm No. 5 and heavy rain.
According to the meteorological agency, storm No. 5 (international name Kajiki) is of strong intensity, moving rapidly and is expected to make landfall directly in the area from Nghe An to Quang Tri on August 25.
In coastal areas from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, the strongest wind near the storm's center can reach level 12-13, gusting to level 15. In Quang Tri alone, from the afternoon of August 24 to August 26, a period of heavy rain is forecast with a total rainfall of 150-300mm, some places over 350mm. There is a very high risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation in low-lying areas, along rivers and residential areas.

In the face of the above situation, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province requested localities to evacuate people in dangerous areas before 6:00 p.m. on August 24, not to let people stay on cages, aquaculture cages, and boats anchored at river mouths and sea gates.
The Provincial Police and the Department of Construction are assigned to coordinate in implementing a plan to ensure traffic safety, not allowing vehicles to circulate in the danger zone when the storm makes landfall.
In particular, the Provincial People's Committee recommends that people do not leave their homes from 9:00 p.m. on August 24 until a notice of storm discharge, to minimize human damage caused by storm winds, fallen trees, and landslides.
Households need to proactively tie up their houses, reserve necessities, and stay in touch with the authorities to promptly respond to emergency situations.

Police, military and border guards are mobilized to support people in reinforcing works, pruning trees, reinforcing dams and preparing rescue and relief vehicles.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province emphasized that storm No. 5 has very complicated developments, high intensity and the possibility of causing serious damage. The government called on people to stay calm, strictly follow instructions, and not go out when the storm hits to ensure safety of their lives.
