Discovering the use of welding the in the production of spring rolls
On May 29, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province said that the unit had coordinated with the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling and Environment of the Provincial Police to conduct a surprise inspection of 64 food processing and trading establishments for agricultural, forestry and fishery. Thereby, two establishments using welding in tea production were discovered, Mr. Nguyen Ut's household (quarter 2, ward 1, Dong Ha city) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (quarter 9, ward 1, Dong Ha city).
Through testing 145 food samples, the authorities discovered 3 more chi samples positive for welding, this is an absolute banned substance in food due to its high toxicity, which is harmful to the health of consumers.
Not only food, the cosmetic sector also continuously recorded violations. In May 2025, the Department of Health of Quang Tri province issued a decision to suspend the circulation and recall nationwide cosmetic products that do not meet quality requirements.
Hair Head & Hair Revitalising Oleo-Essence ( Germaine De Capuccini brand, Spain) was revoked because the label contained disease prevention and treatment content such as medicine, causing misunderstanding to consumers; at the same time, the ingredients on the original label were not in accordance with the published records.
Similarly, the Collagen Italia Slim Women's Hygiene Loss Solvent product, marketed by Quang Xanh Cosmetics and Chemical Company Limited, was also suspended and revoked. Test samples show that this product does not meet the prescribed microorganism limitation standards and is manufactured after the expiration date. The Department of Health has requested localities and businesses to immediately stop trading and using and proceeding to recall and destroy violating products.
Provincial People's Committee directs drastic action
Faced with the increasingly complicated situation of smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has decided to establish a special working group to control and thoroughly handle this situation.
The working group consists of 11 members, headed by Mr. Hoang Nam - Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Duc Tien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 as deputy head of the working group; the remaining members are representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches.
The working group operates under an inter-sectoral mechanism, ensuring close coordination between forces, quickly handling and terminating violations. One of the key tasks is to inspect and strictly handle organizations and individuals who are lax in management or assist in the production and trading of banned goods, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods and dirty food.
The working group will synthesize and evaluate the results of the implementation of trade fraud prevention and control work from the grassroots to the province and propose long-term solutions to the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee 389.
