On February 5, representatives of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri province said that they had received, recruited and arranged work for 12 team members under the Pilot Project on selecting young intellectuals to volunteer to communes to participate in rural and mountainous development (Project 500).
According to the Quang Tri Department of Home Affairs, after the civil servant recruitment exam for Team Leaders of Project 500, there were 12 cases eligible for admission. Among these, 10 team members were recruited to become commune-level civil servants, and the remaining 2 cases were admitted to public service units.
After being recruited, the team members have been arranged and assigned jobs suitable to their job positions, expertise and training fields by the commune-level People's Committee and public non-business units, ensuring the promotion of the capacity of young intellectuals.
According to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, after the process of merging administrative boundaries between Quang Tri province and Quang Binh province, the whole province still has 12 Team members of Project 500 who have not been officially recruited into civil servants and public employees. These are all young volunteer intellectuals, selected according to Project 500 of the Prime Minister from 2013.
In many years of working in mountainous communes, remote and isolated areas, Project 500 team members have shown a sense of responsibility, promoted expertise, completed assigned tasks well and made positive contributions to the activities of grassroots governments.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, in Quang Tri province, there are still 12 Project 500 team members who have not been officially recruited even though they have completed their working time according to the project. Many people continue to stick to the area, making long-term contributions in the context that the locality is still facing many difficulties.
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Ha, a team member of Project 500, shared: "I have been working in My Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh (old) since 2015. Up to now, we are still only labor contracts, not officially recruited. Our biggest wish is to have specific decisions to stabilize our lives and feel secure in sticking with them.
By early July 2025, Ms. Ha was transferred to work as a specialist in the Economic Department of Bac Trach commune, Quang Tri province, continuing her contract until the end of 2025 according to the new organizational plan.
