Waste accumulates for many days, people are worried about pollution

Recently, some areas in Bach Quang, Ba Xuyen, Song Cong wards (Thai Nguyen province) have experienced prolonged accumulation of waste. Piles of household waste are scattered and smelly, directly affecting the lives of local people.

PV recorded on the morning of September 23, along National Highway 3 and some roads in Bach Quang, Song Cong, and Ba Xuyen wards, garbage was piled up in a mess.

Not being collected makes garbage overflowing and smelly. Not only causing unsightliness, people are also concerned about environmental pollution issues.

Mr. Luu Tuan Vinh (Song Cong ward, Thai Nguyen province) said that there is a domestic waste collection point in front of his house.

Here, in the past, people brought out domestic waste to put in bins, and people came to collect it every day, so it was not affected.

For about a week now, no one has come to collect it, garbage piled up high and not treated," Mr. Vinh said.

According to Mr. Vinh, the pile of garbage emitting a foul odor is unbearable. Even inside the house, the stench is still strong, posing a risk of environmental pollution. Hoping to soon have a solution to ensure the environment and health.

Similarly, Ms. N.V.H (a small trader at Pho Co market) said: "Normally, at the market, garbage is collected twice a day. For about a week now, no one has collected it, so domestic waste has been congested for many days and is very smelly.

According to Ms. H, not only causing urban unsightliness, the prolonged accumulation of waste directly affects people's lives. Around the area, garbage is piled up in large piles, smells strong in the sun, and wastewater leaks out very unsanitary in the rain.

I heard people say that the garbage collection unit had an incident, so they haven't cleaned up for this time. I hope there will be a definitive solution soon, otherwise this situation will drag on and affect everyone," Ms. H said.

On September 23, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hoa - Chairman of Song Cong Ward People's Committee said that on normal days, the amount of domestic waste generated in the locality is about 10 to 20 tons.

In recent days, the waste treatment company has stopped receiving, so localities do not have disposal locations. The unit has reported to the province to request direction on this issue, and there is no centralized waste collection point in the area.

Now we still have to wait for instructions from superiors and cannot transport it anywhere," the leader added.

According to the Chairman of Song Cong Ward People's Committee, the locality has also propagated to people to treat waste at source. For inorganic waste, if it is not decomposed, stop transferring it outside. For decomposed waste transferred outside, functional agencies will carry out disinfection spraying.
