On June 26, a representative of Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa province) said that the airport will continue to temporarily suspend receiving aircraft from 6:00 p.m. the previous day to 6:00 a.m. the following morning due to technical problems. The suspension under this time frame will last until July 1.
Previously, the temporary suspension of flights was also applied. Specifically, due to the continuous appearance of strange objects near the airport area, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has decided to temporarily suspend the operation of Tho Xuan airport from 6:00 p.m. on June 16 to 6:00 a.m. on June 17 to ensure absolute safety for flight operations.
On June 15, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam announced that it was implementing a series of urgent measures to ensure aviation safety after drones appeared to invade Tho Xuan Airport area for two consecutive days, June 13 and 14, 2025.
According to the report of the Northern Airports Authority, these unidentified flying devices have seriously affected civil aviation operations and pose a potential threat to the airport airspace.
In the face of the above situation, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued an urgent document requesting Tho Xuan Airport and the Runway Safety Team to urgently tighten coordination between the Air Traffic Control Station, the aviation security force, the military and related units to be ready to handle when detecting a foreign object entering.
The Department also directed to increase propaganda on aviation safety laws in neighboring localities, and at the same time requested the development of a response plan to situations threatening flight safety during take-off and landing activities.
The Northern Airports Authority was assigned to preside over the investigation and verification of the incursions on June 13 and 14: coordinate with inter-sectoral patrols in residential areas adjacent to airports; strictly punish acts of threatening the airspace according to the law.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has also recommended that the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province direct the authorities to search for illegal drone users, strictly handle them and increase propaganda among the people about regulations to ensure aviation safety.
