On the afternoon of May 4, the Office of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense reported on the work of ensuring pontoon bridges, natural disasters, fires, search and rescue in the period of May 3-4.
Regarding the bridge pontoon assurance work, the report said that during the day, the Ministry of National Defense mobilized 160 officers and soldiers and 90 vehicles of all kinds, maintaining the operation of the Song Lo bridge pontoon, ensuring safety for 4,467 turns of people and vehicles passing through.
Regarding natural disasters, according to reports, at 5:25 PM on May 3rd, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms occurred in the communes of Thanh Binh Tho and Nhan Hoa (Nghe An province).
As a result, roofs of 193 houses and 1 village cultural house were blown off; 145.5 hectares of crops were affected; the honey tank of Song Lam Sugar Factory broke, causing two thousand tons of honey to spill out (Nhan Hoa commune). The locality mobilized 30 people to coordinate forces on the spot to help people overcome the consequences.

Regarding the fire, the report said that at 6:45 am on May 3, a fire occurred at Tho Xuan General Hospital (Thanh Hoa province) in the outpatient medicine dispensing area, the cause is being verified. Local authorities mobilized 54 people to extinguish the fire at 6:55 am on the same day.
At 7:00 PM on May 3rd, at house number 45, Thinh Quang alley, Dong Da ward (Hanoi City), a fire occurred at 25 m2 of a resident's house, caused by family conflicts that caused a fire. Local authorities mobilized 26 people and 2 fire trucks to extinguish the fire at 7:45 PM on the same day.
Regarding the collapse of the project, the report said that at 4:15 pm on May 3, at house number 381, Thuong 2 area, Binh Khe ward (Quang Ninh province), a 2-story house collapsed, due to carelessness during house repair. The consequence was 1 death (N.V.L, born in 1963), 2 injuries. The locality mobilized 47 people to help people overcome the consequences.
Regarding search and rescue work, at 7:00 AM on May 4th, in the area about 2 nautical miles from East Bach Long Vi (Hai Phong City), fishing vessel number Quynh Dan Ngu 14106 with 4 crew members, Chinese nationality, was caught by nets wrapped in propellers, drifting and stranded. The locality mobilized 25 officers and soldiers and 3 vehicles to coordinate forces on the spot to rescue 4 crew members safely and develop a plan to pull the vessel out of the stranded area.
At 9:00 am on May 4, in the beach area of Phu Tho 2 neighborhood, Hoa Hiep ward (Dak Lak province), child N.B. A. P (born 2014, permanently residing at the above address) was swept away by water while swimming and went missing. Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command dispatched 8 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local forces to search for the victim's body and hand it over to the family at 9:47 am on the same day.
