As noted from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cu Lao Dung district (Soc Trang province) in An Thanh Dong commune, there are 4 large landslides in the temple hamlets, Nguyen Cong Minh B and Le Minh Chau B. The total length of landslides up to 250 m. These points have the phenomenon of loss of talus. Landslide with dike foot with surface 1 m, bottom 4 m and 2.5 m deep. About 150 households and more than 250 hectares of agricultural land in this area are threatened.

Similar conditions were also recorded in Dai An 1 commune, especially in Xom Day area (Nguyen Tang hamlet), where there were 2 serious landslides with a total length of more than 100 m. Some landslides encroached 1.5 m deep into the dike surface, causing the embankment and erosion of the sand layer of the embankment paved on the dike, directly affecting the lives of about 55 households and more than 115 hectares of productive land.
According to the assessment of the authorities, the main cause of this situation is due to the bending terrain of the Hau River, causing the flow to close to the shore, causing great pressure on the dyke system. In addition, weak ground and many shrimp farming households remove ponds and not reinforcing banks, increasing the risk of landslides.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dac - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cu Lao Dung district - said that the unit has proposed the District People's Committee to direct the People's Committee of An Thanh Dong commune to urgently put up warning ropes at dangerous landslides, and mobilized local shock forces to take temporary remedial measures to prevent landslides from spreading, and protect the safety of people and property.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Cu Lao Dung district has sent a document to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, Project Management Board 2 and the Soc Trang Provincial Irrigation Department to request early funding support to deploy emergency solutions at serious landslides.

Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province organized a field survey team at the left and right dykes to assess the level of danger and develop a handling plan.
In the immediate future, the authorities are coordinating with localities to put up ropes and warning signs in dangerous areas, and urgently deploy response measures to protect the lives and property of people in affected areas.
