On January 9, the People's Committee of Can Duoc commune, Tay Ninh province reported on the riverbank erosion that occurred in the area of the Can Duoc - Vam Co river junction, belonging to Ba Nghia hamlet. The erosion was 5-7m wide, about 20m long, causing a level-4 house to collapse completely, fortunately not causing any casualties.

The affected house belongs to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, and was repaired and rebuilt by his family on the foundation of the old house. After about 5 months of completion, his family had just moved in for less than a week when serious signs of landslides appeared. The water poured deep into the foundation, causing the house to quickly collapse into the river and no longer be able to be repaired.
According to Mr. Liem, the house was built with a cost of about 280 million VND. Previously, the riverside land plot was more than 10m away from the house, but the landslide situation is getting deeper and deeper. Previously, his family had their house collapsed in a nearby location and had to relocate, unexpectedly now they continue to fall into the situation of losing their house again.

According to records, the landslide point is located in the area of the intersection of 2 rivers, strongly affected by the flow. In addition, large tonnage waterway vehicles regularly circulate at high speeds, creating strong whirlpools into the shore, forming deep holes causing erosion, potentially posing a risk of landslides continuing in the near future. This situation not only affects Mr. Liem's household but also threatens the travel and daily life of 7 other households in the area.
Faced with dangerous landslide developments, Can Duoc Commune People's Committee promptly implemented safety measures such as hanging ropes, planting warning signs for dangerous areas, supporting people to relocate property and arranging temporary accommodation for affected families.
Vice Chairman of Can Duoc Commune People's Committee Vo Chi Cong said that the locality has proposed that functional sectors of the province soon consider supporting and implementing solutions to prevent and combat landslides, especially for people's roads in this area to ensure safety for people.
