On October 5, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) said that from September 1 to October 3, the AI camera system automatically detected 3,143 violations, mainly violations of running red lights, driving in the wrong lane, stopping and parking in violation of regulations, speeding, not wearing a seat belt or using a phone while driving.
Violation data is transmitted directly to the Command Center for verification, file preparation and decision on sanctions according to regulations.
PC08 said that the AI camera system is currently deployed on hundreds of key routes, intersections and areas at high risk of congestion or accidents.
The selection of installation locations is based on scientific criteria, combined with actual analysis of vehicle traffic volume and the situation of violations. AI cameras are capable of detecting violations in real time, helping to shorten the processing process, limit subjective factors, and increase transparency in law enforcement.
The presence of the AI camera system has gradually adjusted behavior and contributed to raising awareness of traffic law compliance of traffic participants. In areas with surveillance cameras, many violations have previously been quite common such as running red lights, driving in the wrong lane, using a phone while driving... have decreased significantly.
According to PC08, in the coming time, the AI camera system will continue to be upgraded and expanded. The focus is on expanding the scope of supervision to routes, suburban areas and new traffic routes; at the same time, integrating advanced AI technology with the ability to recognize behavior and analyze data in real time to detect early and diversely types of violations.
At the same time, the system will be connected to traffic control devices such as traffic lights and smart control centers to form a comprehensive monitoring network.
The Traffic Police Department is also developing a mobile application to help people easily look up violations, pay fines online and report traffic situations quickly and conveniently.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City's traffic surveillance camera system is widely deployed, including:
530 traffic surveillance cameras in the central area,
9 automatic speed surveillance cameras, 31 AI cameras to identify violations at intersections,
47 cameras invested by Department C08 (including 7 speed monitoring, 8 traffic light monitoring, 5 stopping/opposite direction monitoring, 8 license plate identification, 19 traffic monitoring).
PC08 Department also exploited 710 cameras of the City Police Command Center, serving the operation and handling of violations.
In area 1, there are currently 412 cameras, of which 172 are operating well, 219 are damaged, 21 have been dismantled; area 2 has 201 cameras including 23 traffic observers, 17 speed supervisors, 161 red light supervisors, parking stops, pick-up and drop-off of guests...
