On June 8, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Head of the Dak Lak Provincial Forest Protection Department said: "Since the beginning of the year, 40 civil servants and 7 forestry workers have submitted applications for early retirement.
In the first phase (late April 2025), the authorities announced the retirement decision for 19 civil servants and 2 employees".
According to statistics from the Dak Lak Provincial Forest Protection Department, the whole province still has 225 civil servants working in the forest rangers. Currently, Dak Lak has more than 500,000 hectares of forested land. Of which, natural forests are up to more than 400,000 hectares.

According to Mr. Hung, after the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus, the personnel in the provincial forest rangers have been disrupted and fluctuated. When merging provinces and implementing a two-level government, Dak Lak will also receive a fairly large area of forest in Phu Yen. Therefore, the pressure on the personnel assigned to manage and protect the forest is very high.
"The unit is developing a project to submit to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to advise the Provincial People's Committee to implement the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus in the sector. Accordingly, 11 district and inter-district forest rangers and 3 mobile forest rangers will be organized into 8 regional forest rangers.
The number of staff and personnel working in forest protection in the units remains the same and is rearranged to suit the current context," said Mr. Hung.
Mr. Vu Trong Hieu - Head of Ea Kar District Forest Protection Department - shared: "The unit currently has a total of 16 personnel in both the payroll and labor contracts. Meanwhile, the area of managed and protected forests is up to more than 32,000 hectares, the pressure is too great.
In particular, people in resettlement area No. 2 (Cu Bong commune) are still illegally encroaching on forest land for cultivation. After streamlining and merging the apparatus, there are still people, so the pressure does not decrease but is even greater. Because the forest area that needs to be managed and protected has increased".
"In the coming time, the forest rangers set a goal of rejuvenating personnel directly responsible for forest protection management. Thereby, gradually replacing the older cadre class. However, we will still retain and encourage them to continue working to impart experience to the younger generation, helping the management and protection of forests to be effective," added the Head of the Dak Lak Provincial Forest Protection Department.
