At many recent driving license exams in Hanoi, the rate of candidates failing in the road test has increased compared to before, showing that the requirement to assess practical driving skills is increasingly being emphasized.
According to the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Hanoi City Police, the goal of the testing is not only to issue driver's licenses but also to ensure that vehicle drivers after being licensed have sufficient legal knowledge, situation handling skills and awareness of safe traffic participation.

Real-world records at a car driving test organized by the Road Motor Vehicle Driver Testing and Issuance Team at Duc Thinh Vocational Training Center for Car Driver Training (Hanoi) on May 28th show that hundreds of candidates taking the B and C1 categories have completed all the tests according to regulations.
In which, the long-distance test section continues to be considered the most accurate assessment of vehicle control capacity of trainees after the training process. In the test area, the traffic police force arranged officers to guide and regulate, ensuring that the entire process takes place objectively, seriously and in accordance with regulations.
Major Nguyen Mai Huyen - officer of the Road Motor Vehicle Driver Testing and Issuance Team (Hanoi Traffic Police Department) said that in this exam, test takers will directly sit in the car with candidates to monitor and score throughout the vehicle driving process.
Candidates must drive the vehicle for a distance of about 2km and achieve a minimum of 80/100 points to be recognized as meeting the requirements. Through the test, test takers can assess the ability to observe and handle actual traffic situations as well as the driver's awareness of law compliance," Major Huyen said.

Another new point that the Hanoi Traffic Police Department has recently implemented is that test takers can ask questions directly to candidates right during the exam. The content of the questions focuses on traffic safety knowledge, skills to handle arising situations and regulations that drivers need to grasp when participating in traffic.
According to the traffic police force, many errors that cause candidates to be deducted points or fail in the long-distance exam are mainly related to observation skills, direction change, intersection handling, complying with traffic signs, speed and safety rules when participating in traffic.

Along with improving professional quality, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department also strengthens receiving feedback from people through QR code surveys.
The survey content is directly monitored, supervised and independently evaluated by the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security. This is considered an important channel to receive feedback from people, promptly detect and prevent negativity, and at the same time improve the quality of service in testing and issuing driver's licenses.

As one of the candidates who just completed the test, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Ngan (born in 2003) said that she spent a lot of time practicing driving skills and reviewing traffic law knowledge before taking the exam.
Although I was deducted 10 points in the long-distance exam, I still got enough points to meet the requirements. After the exam, the testing staff also explained clearly the shortcomings and gave specific instructions to learn from experience," Ms. Ngan shared.
In the coming time, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department will continue to improve the quality of testing work in the direction of focusing on traffic rules, ethics and culture; and at the same time supplement practical situations and common violations in the long-distance testing section, resolutely saying no to the situation of "learning tricks, testing tricks".
