On the afternoon of July 22, the People's Committee of Hoa Binh Ward informed that due to the impact of storm No. 3, the area recorded prolonged heavy rain, with the potential risk of flooding and riverbank landslides, the local government proactively reviewed and mobilized 52 households in Lang Van Chua (old Thinh Lang Ward, Hoa Binh City, now Hoa Binh Ward, Phu Tho Province after the merger) to urgently evacuate to a safe place.
This is a village located along the river, about 3km from the foot of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, where people live mainly by fishing and cage farming.
Mr. Ngo Van Thong - Head of the fishing village said that the village has 52 households with 180 people. Up to this point, about 60 people have been relocated to the cultural house of the old Thinh Lang ward. The rest are continuing to move, as many households still have to handle fish cages and cages anchored in the Ngoi Dong area.
"Some families are still subjective, thinking that the storm's circulation only causes light rain, so they have not urgently evacuated. Therefore, mobilization is facing many difficulties," Mr. Thong shared.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Luyen - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh Ward, the local government has mobilized militia and police forces to participate in supporting people in clearing property, moving to a safe place and stabilizing temporary housing.
"We continue to closely monitor weather developments, while providing necessary necessities and ensuring temporary living conditions for people," Mr. Luyen informed.
