Soc Trang province is entering the final preparation stage to merge commune-level administrative units in a synchronous and effective manner.
According to the Project on arranging commune-level administrative units in the province, after the merger, it will be reduced from 108 to 43, including 8 wards and 35 communes, with 4 communes remaining in their original state.
Mr. Nguyen Hai Quan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Thoi An commune (Tran De district) - said that according to the project, this locality will merge with Thanh Thoi Thuan commune, with the administrative center located at the current People's Committee of Thanh Thoi An commune.
To ensure a working facility, the locality has relocated the old commune police headquarters and renovated it into a public administrative center. Thanh Thoi An commune will be transferred to Thanh Thoi Thuan commune, while the old headquarters will be used as the place of activities of the Fatherland Front (FFC) and mass organizations. The current headquarters of the Commune Party Committee and People's Committee is arranged with a first floor for the Party, the ground floor for the People's Committee, People's Council and functional departments.
"The related records and documents have also been classified, sealed and stored scientifically, ready for transfer and operation immediately upon receipt of official instructions," said Mr. Quan.

Similarly, in Trung Binh commune (Tran De district), preparations have also been completed. Mr. Tran Quoc Thai - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said that this commune will merge with Tran De town and Dai An 2 commune to form the new Tran De commune, with the administrative center located at the current headquarters of the Tran De district People's Committee.
"We have started implementation 3 months ago. The dossier is clearly classified according to each year and each professional field. The provincial archival Center has conducted a complete sealing and counting. The staff in the commune is basically stable, some people are retiring according to the regime, the rest are committed to continuing working. Of the 13 non-professional cadres, 10 have registered to continue working and will be assigned appropriate work to promote the existing experience and reputation in the locality," Mr. Thai shared.
Tran De District Party Secretary Mr. Luu Huu Danh said that the district has completed the work of statistics on assets and determined the location of headquarters for each professional block after the merger. Central communes will be chosen as the places to place administrative headquarters; other communes will arrange headquarters for the Party, the Fatherland Front, and organizations.
The arrangement of staff is also carefully calculated, harmoniously combining professional capacity, travel conditions and the need to retain the old team to ensure inheritance and stability in management activities. At the same time, the Congress Documents in the communes are also being finalized.

In My Tu district, after the merger, the district will have 4 communes left, a reduction of 5 communes compared to the present. District Party Secretary Pham Tuan said that up to now, all records and documents have been classified, arranged and sealed in accordance with the instructions of superiors. The communes subject to the merger have also been rearranged in facilities according to the principle of choosing a new convenient headquarters, helping people easily access administrative procedures. My Phuoc is still maintained in its current state as a safe commune, where the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee base relic site is located, and is still proactively increasing cadres from the district to improve the quality of activities and develop the economy due to the large population and area.
In Phong Nam commune (Ke Sach district), Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, Mr. Le Van Nho, said that although the commune is not subject to merger, the locality still proactively reviews, rearranges facilities and preserves records scientifically. The staff in the commune also recorded the change, some people applied for early retirement. The commune has also reported to superiors to add more cadres to meet the target.
