On April 2, Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Tran Van Lau - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province - directly inspected the sand mining situation at MS12 and MS04. mines.
This move took place right after the Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province issued an official dispatch requesting units to urgently implement solutions to promote the progress of component project 4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project.
MS12 sand mine is exploited by Truong Son Construction Corporation, started on October 11, 2024, with a reserve of about 628,000m3, an exploitation capacity of 3,000m3/day, and is planned to provide a maximum of 628,000m3 for the project by June 2025. Currently, the exploitation capacity is 1,415m3/day, equivalent to 47%.
MS04 sand mine is exploited by Hoa Tuan Trading and Service Company Limited, started on October 27, 2024, with a reserve of 4,260,000m3, an exploitation capacity of 500,000m3/year, planned to provide a maximum of 398,868m3 by June 2025. Currently, the exploitation capacity is 999m3/day, equivalent to 53.2%.
A representative of the MS04 sand mine said that the unit is deploying 6 suction ships and will add 3 more suction ships to ensure a capacity of 3,000m3/day. Regarding transportation, if using a 400m3 boat, it will meet the demand for the day, while a 700m3 boat will need 2 days.
In this situation, the leaders of Soc Trang province have requested mine owners and enterprises to ensure the mining volume is in accordance with the license; urgently arrange adequate equipment and means for sand exploitation and transportation. Construction contractors need to arrange enough vehicles to transport sand to the project in a timely manner, the vehicles must be equipped with positioning devices, journey monitoring and registration and inspection according to regulations.
Previously, due to inadequate exploitation capacity, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province requested Truong Son Construction Corporation - the MS12 sand mine mining unit - to have solutions to improve exploitation capacity within 10 days. Otherwise, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will advise the Provincial People's Committee to revoke the confirmation granted to the enterprise.
