Implementing the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses ( children's program), Soc Trang province plans to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for about 8,586 households, with a total funding requirement of over 450 billion VND.
Mr. Dang Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Soc Trang province - said that after more than 2 months (from December 11, 2024 to February 19, 2025), construction of 3,792 units has been started and 2,219 units have been completed, with an implementation cost of 124.53 billion VND.
The Fund for the Poor of Soc Trang province has received 248 billion VND for the Program. The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has allocated funds to the District-level Fund for the Poor to build and repair houses for beneficiaries.

Departments, branches and sectors in the province also actively participate in supporting the Program. The armed forces, the Women's Union, and the Youth Union have contributed more than 5,200 working days, helping people demolish old houses, clean up, transport materials, pour foundations, roof and build walls.
Regarding residential land, Mr. Quang said that there are currently about 294 cases of landless or unqualified land for construction. The province has resolved 21 cases and the authorities are coordinating with localities to continue supporting the remaining cases according to regulations.

Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee - said that the Steering Committees at all levels will continue to strengthen direction and close leadership in implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. Strengthen inspection, supervision, and timely support for localities in resolving difficulties and problems. The province also focuses on promoting propaganda and mobilizing contributions from organizations and individuals to the Fund for the Poor.
According to the Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, the locality aims to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for families of meritorious people before April 30, 2025; complete housing for subjects under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority Areas on the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay (a New Year's Festival according to the traditional calendar of the Khmer people) and complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the whole province before September 30, 2025.
