The bus driver fell onto Bao Loc Pass and tested negative for drugs

Lam Dong - After the incident of a 45-seat passenger bus plunging down Bao Loc Pass, the authorities organized an alcohol and drug test for the two drivers.

On March 31, the leader of the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police said that the authorities had invited the driver of the passenger car and the truck to take statements to serve the investigation.

After the accident, Lam Dong Provincial Police organized an alcohol concentration test and drug testing for the two drivers. The inspection results showed that these two people did not violate.

For the passenger car, after being lifted from the scene, the police force brought it to the headquarters of the old Da Huoai District Police to serve the investigation.

According to information from Lam Dong Provincial Police, Mr. Nguyen Van Lan (44 years old), residing in Binh Phuoc Province, is the driver of a passenger car; Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu (48 years old), residing in Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province, is the driver of a truck.

The accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on March 30 on Bao Loc Pass, passing through Da M'ri Town, Da Huoai District, Lam Dong. At this time, driver Nguyen Van Lan (residing in Binh Phuoc province) was driving a passenger bus carrying 36 people on National Highway 20, in the direction of Lam Dong - Dong Nai.

When arriving at the above area, the passenger car suddenly crashed into the back of a truck traveling in the same direction in front. After the collision, the passenger bus crossed the left road and fell into a deep ravine in Bao Loc Pass about 20m deep.

The incident killed passenger N.T.N.T (26 years old), residing in Binh Phuoc province. In addition, 2 young children and another male passenger were injured and had to be hospitalized for emergency care.

Initially, the bus driver confessed to transporting officers and employees of a company in Binh Phuoc to Da Lat city, Lam Dong to participate in the marathon. There were 6 children in the car, the rest were adults.

When the bus carrying the group returned, the accident occurred. The driver also admitted that he did not control the speed, the passenger car lost its brakes and collided with the rear of the truck running in front.

By 2:15 a.m. on March 31, Lam Dong Provincial Police had completed the rescue work and lifted the passenger bus out of the abyss.

Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the accident.
