On the afternoon of August 19, the Border Guard Command of Hue City said that Vinh Hien Border Guard Station had just coordinated with forces and fishermen to rescue a fishing boat in distress at Tu Hien estuary.
Specifically, fishing vessel TTH 91171-TS, 19.5m long, owned by Mr. Phan Them (born 1977, residing in Hien An village, Vinh Loc commune, Hue city) was anchored in the Hien An village sandbar area, about 100m from the Tu Hien estuary dyke.
During the weather with strong winds and big waves, the ship was sunk, anchored, and collided with the embankment and then sank. Mr. Phan Them was brought ashore safely by functional forces in coordination with fishermen.
Upon receiving the news, Vinh Hien Border Guard Station mobilized forces to coordinate with the Steering Committee for Civil Defense of Vinh Loc commune and fishermen to deploy rescue. On the morning of August 19, 10 officers and soldiers were sent to the scene to salvage the ship along with machinery, equipment and fishing gear.
The incident did not cause any casualties. However, the fishing boat along with property and fishing gear were damaged and sunk underwater, with initial estimated total damage of about 3 billion VND.
