On April 22, information from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thai Nguyen province said that the locality had completed the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the whole province, 6 months ahead of schedule assigned by the Government.
The total number of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area that need to be rebuilt or repaired is 1,838 units, of which 1,220 units were newly built and 618 units were repaired. The total implementation cost is up to nearly 92 billion VND.
The state budget supports more than 21.5 billion VND, including nearly 18.9 billion VND from 5% regular expenditure savings and more than 2.6 billion VND from the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas.
In addition, the Fund for the Poor has mobilized more than 70.2 billion VND to contribute to the implementation of this program.
As of April 15, all temporary and dilapidated houses in Thai Nguyen province have been eliminated, reaching the finish line more than half a year ahead of schedule assigned by the Prime Minister (October 31, 2025).
Previously, in February 2025, Dai Tu district was the first locality in Thai Nguyen to complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
After completing the program, Thai Nguyen province transferred more than 45.6 billion VND to the Central Government to support other provinces.
Along with that, Thai Nguyen also specifically supported Bac Kan province with 3 billion VND and Hoa Binh province with 2 billion VND to implement a program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in these localities.
