Having moved to a new house for nearly 2 months now, the feelings of resentment for the whole family of Mr. Nong Van Binh, Dong Tam commune, Bac Quang district (Ha Giang) are still the same as recently.
The new house of more than 80 square meters is solidly built, without having to worry every time the rainy and stormy season comes. Having lived for more than half of their life, Mr. Binh and his wife had never thought of having such a spacious house.
"The old house has walls, rotten roofs, leaking in the rain, and during the flood season, we often have to stay there and suffer. Recently, with 60 million in state support, savings and additional loans, the couple is determined to build a new house. Now I am very assured," Mr. Binh shared.

Bac Quang district is the locality with the largest number of temporary and dilapidated houses to be demolished in Ha Giang province with 725 houses. By early April 2025, 533 houses had been completed and put into use, the district also set a goal of completing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in April this year.
Previously, in mid-January 2025, Dong Van - one of the 4 districts in the stone plateau region, completed the first program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Ha Giang province with 89 houses completed and put into use, ensuring quality and according to traditional architecture.
Dong Van is also the district that creates the auction model "Ha Giang Golden Bowl", a typical product of the locality. The proceeds from the auctions will be used to build houses for the poor, especially families in difficult circumstances.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Secretary of Dong Van District Party Committee said that the District's Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary Houses has assigned specific plans to communes, closely monitoring progress, and promptly resolving problems in the implementation process.
"Along with the support from the State, we also mobilize maximum social resources, so that the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is the joint effort of the whole community. Thanks to that, the progress is also accelerated," Mr. Dung informed.
After reviewing the whole Ha Giang province, there are 10,688 households that need support to eliminate temporary houses. Currently, construction of 4,222 houses has started. This border province aims to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses by the end of October 2025.
In fact, in Ha Giang, 4 districts have completed the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. including Dong Van district with 89 houses, Hoang Su Phi 207 houses, Quang Binh 161 and Ha Giang city with 8 houses.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province, by early April 2025, 2,567 new houses had been completed and put into use. Most of the houses are newly built, ensuring quality, suitable for the living conditions of people in the highlands.
Individuals and units have sponsored and supported over 279 billion VND. The Ha Giang Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has allocated a total of over 173 billion VND. In addition, the program also recorded more than 92,000 days of volunteer work of associations, unions, armed forces and people.
Despite many difficulties, with the participation of the whole community and the determination of authorities at all levels, the work of eliminating temporary houses in Ha Giang is being accelerated with the goal of settling down and reducing poverty at the border.
