On August 21, Tan An Ward People's Committee (Dak Lak province) said that a tragic accident had just occurred in the area when heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms caused green trees to fall, hitting a pedestrian.
At about 5 pm on August 20, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds occurred on some roads in Buon Ma Thuot and Tan An wards.
At this time, Mr. H.N. Q (18 years old, residing in Gia Lai province) was driving a motorbike with license plate 81AP-003. xx on the Ho Chi Minh road, passing through Dat Ly area, Tan An ward.
While moving, Mr. Q was suddenly hit by a large tree on the side of the road that broke and fell, crushing him. The young man was seriously injured and unconscious on the spot.
People quickly helped take the victim to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to his severe injuries, Mr. Q died at noon on August 21.
The thunderstorm also caused many green trees in the areas to break branches, be uprooted, and tree trunks to fall across the road, affecting people's travel. Some signboards were blown away by the wind, and cabinets of business households were also damaged.
