Desire to protect children from kidnapping and abuse

Solve for Tomorrow 2024 has just found 2 winning teams: Small Warriors - Him Lam Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - Hau Giang with the project of applying smart technology to breed and raise rare insects (Group A) and Supernova team of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted - Da Nang with the project Braveheart - a smart application to warn of dangerous situations in children and women (Group B).

A few days after winning first prize in the competition, two members of the Supernova team, Nguyen Duc Gia Bao and Le Minh Loc, were still excited and happy because when they first joined the competition, neither of them thought they could go this far and win the championship like this.

It is known that the idea for the product came to the members of Supernova when they read the heartbreaking story of a 21-month-old baby being kidnapped and murdered. “This made us wonder why we are living in a technological world, a world where artificial intelligence is developing more and more, but such incidents are still happening. Can we use our knowledge to solve these problems?” – Le Minh Loc shared.

“Instead of just using conventional GPS devices like those already on the market, we will use artificial intelligence, using audio data of conversations to predict in advance. From there, we will issue a warning about a kidnapping or an assault that may be about to happen and quickly notify parents so that they can promptly resolve the problem” – Loc explained more specifically about his product.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Gia Nhu - Principal of the School of Computer Science, Duy Tan University - one of the members of the jury of the contest - in the context of society increasingly paying attention to personal safety and protecting vulnerable groups such as children and women, BraveHeart is proof that technology can become a useful and practical tool, not only to protect health but also as a shield to help prevent risks in daily life. "BraveHeart is not only a technology product but also a commitment to a safer society, creating trust in the young generation with the ability to turn technology into a tool to serve life" - said Mr. Nhu.

Training and developing social awareness for the young generation

The main purpose of the Solve for Tomorrow 2024 competition when targeting the disadvantaged is not only to create technological solutions that have an immediate positive social impact but also to train and develop social awareness for the younger generation.

Along with braveheart, more than 60% of the topics participating in the Solve for Tomorrow 2024 competition are solutions to problems supporting disadvantaged groups, thereby showing the interest and willingness of the young generation to support this group.

Launched in 2019, the Solve for Tomorrow competition has achieved many brilliant achievements. With only about 500 students participating in the first competition, in the 6th year, this number has increased to more than 150,000 students with nearly 2,300 entries from many middle and high schools across the country.

Speaking at the award ceremony of the Solve for Tomorrow 2024 competition, Mr. Choi Joo Ho - General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex shared: “Every year when visiting the projects in the Solve for Tomorrow Finals, I am amazed by the enthusiasm, efforts and great intelligence of the students. This year is no exception, I am very moved to witness the wonderful products of the students. You are outstanding talents, the future owners of Vietnam. I hope that you will not be satisfied with your current achievements and continue to cultivate and develop in your studies. In the future, Samsung will continue to make efforts so that the Solve for Tomorrow program can spread and reach more students.”
