Another village of nearly 100 people in Quang Nam is threatened by landslides

Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam continues to urgently evacuate 26 households, 95 people, due to landslides that flooded into residential areas.

On September 23, Mr. Ho Van Nip - Chairman of Tra Tap Commune People's Committee, Nam Tra My District said that heavy rain from September 19 to 22 caused landslides on the road from Tra Tap Commune People's Committee to Lang Luong village, hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil spilled onto the road, paralyzing traffic.

The landslide also swept down to Lang Luong village, threatening 26 households with 95 people. The commune's disaster prevention and search and rescue force surveyed the landslide site and upstream and discovered many cracks and fractures.

The authorities had to urgently evacuate 26 households/95 people to a safe place. At the same time, they placed signs, restricting people and vehicles from passing through dangerous areas.

Mr. Tran Van Man - Vice Chairman of Nam Tra My District People's Committee said: "Currently, all 26 households have been relocated to temporary housing to ensure safety. The locality is carrying out two tasks in parallel: ensuring the lives and property of the people and implementing the construction of the new residential area that was previously planned."

The entire Nam Tra My district currently has 39 residential areas (11,780 people) at risk of landslides. As of September 23, 63 households/269 people affected by landslides have been evacuated to safety.
