Floods have left 68 people dead and missing, causing damage of nearly VND9 billion - according to a preliminary report as of the morning of November 22.

According to a quick report from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, by 6:00 a.m. on November 22, the flood on the Krong Ana River (Dak Lak), Dinh Ninh Hoa River (Khanh Hoa) was receding; Ba River (Dak Lak) was waving; crepok River (Dak Lak) was rising. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, floods on the Krong Ana River will decrease and be above alert level 3 (BD3); Dinh Ninh Hoa River will be at level 2BD3; downstream of the Ba River at Phu Lam at level 1; the Srepok River at Ban Don will be above level 3.

Regarding rain, it is forecasted that on November 22, the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and northern Khanh Hoa will have common rainfall from 3060mm, locally over 120mm. On November 23, Hue City and the eastern provinces from Da Nang City to Gia Lai will have common rain from 3070mm, locally over 120mm.

Floods have left 68 people dead or missing (an increase of 10 deaths and 4 missing people in Dak Lak compared to the report at 4:00 p.m. on November 21), of which 55 people died (Hue 2, Da Nang 2, Gia Lai 5, Dak Lak 27, Khanh Hoa 14, Lam Dong 5); 13 people missing (Quang Tri 1, Da Nang 2, Dak Lak 8, Khanh Hoa 2). Historic floods also damaged 946 houses, currently 28,460 houses are flooded.

Currently, there are 16 locations on national highways that are flooded and landslides, causing traffic congestion and 180 locations on provincial and inter-commune roads that are flooded and landslides. On November 21, 8 passenger trains were stopped; on November 22, 6 passenger trains through the Central region will continue to be stopped.

The initial preliminary estimated economic damage is about more than VND 8,980 billion.
