The Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway project has a total length of 121km, divided into two investment phases. Phase 1, Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway is invested with a length of more than 93km, starting at Tan Thanh Border Gate intersection, Van Lang district (Lang Son), and ending at National Highway 3 intersection in Chi Thao commune, Quang Hoa district (Cao Bang). The highlight of the project is the two tunnels through Dong Khe and That Khe mountains.
Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of VND 14,167 billion, invested by the consortium of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company - ICV Vietnam Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company - Deo Ca Transport Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company - Construction Joint Stock Company 568. It is expected that phase 1 will be opened to traffic in 2025 and completed in 2026.

Recently, on February 18, Chairman of Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for GPMB of the Dong Dang (Lang Son) - Tra Linh (Cao Bang) Expressway Project to resolve problems related to compensation and GPMB.
To date, Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces have handed over 99.78% of the site. Cao Bang province alone has handed over 41.26km/41.35km. In the two districts of Thach An and Quang Hoa where the project passes through, over 700 households have been compensated or approved for compensation plans, with a total cost of over 200 billion VND. The Ministry of National Defense has also agreed to transfer 1,679.1m2 of national defense land (in Thach An district) to serve the project.


Cao Bang province has completed the conversion of forest use purposes and blasting, except for some sections that need to be adjusted. The relocation of technical infrastructure is being accelerated, ensuring completion in the first quarter of 2025.
According to the reporter's records, hundreds of construction teams are occupying the construction site, thousands of workers and machines are being deployed.
On February 22, Mr. Hoang Van Nam (residing in Thach An district) shared: "The project is being built quite quickly, people are very happy, they have finished digging the Dong Khe tunnel, coming here to break the rocky mountains, hoping the weather will support the construction".

It is known that in the most recent update, the total output of the packages in the project to date is about 1,479 billion VND, reaching 14.88% of the contract value. In particular, during the Lunar New Year 2025, contractors will maintain 19 construction teams, over 230 workers, engineers and 200 machines and equipment at the construction site.
Previously, on February 18, a meeting chaired by the head of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province focused on removing difficulties in the slow progress of design documents, adjusting route directions, causing additional land acquisition areas, slow approval of resettlement land prices, slow arrangement of resettlement areas and relocation of technical infrastructure due to lack of materials.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province requested units and localities to closely coordinate, urgently remove difficulties, speed up the site handover progress, ensure the completion of site clearance before March 30 and open the technical route of phase 1 on December 31, 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
