Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway Project (phase 1), belonging to group A project, is over 104km long, with a total investment of 13,800 billion VND. The starting point is connected to the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway, the ending point is in Tan Quang commune.
The project section through Tuyen Quang province (old) has a length of over 77km worth 8,800 billion VND. The section through Ha Giang province (old) is over 27km long, with a total investment of over 5,000 billion VND. The project was technically opened to traffic on December 19.

Recorded by PV at the end of December 2025, on the project site section passing through Tuyen Quang province (old), hundreds of workers and machinery and equipment are being mobilized to implement the project. Some locations have been paved, asphalted, and bridge and culvert items on the route have also been deployed for construction.
In parallel with the construction of the roadbed, resettlement areas under the project have also gradually formed.
According to the report of Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1, as of December 25, phase I of the project (old Tuyen Quang section) is implementing 7 construction packages, simultaneously constructing 6/6 packages for road and bridge sections with more than 116 construction bridges, nearly 1,061 equipment, 1,005 workers.
Many items achieved large volume such as: K95 roadbed reached 67.8%, K98 roadbed reached 55.4%, C25 asphalt concrete spread reached 19.6%, C19 reached 10.4%; civil underpass reached 99%, pile drilling for bridge filling reached 100%.

The accumulated construction value reached over 2,692/4,701 billion VND, equivalent to 57.3% of the contract value, 24.9% slower than the plan. The total capital plan assigned to the project was over 8,249 billion VND; accumulated disbursement reached over 5,096 billion VND, equal to 61.78% of the plan.
In package 20, there are 4 bottlenecks, stone hills arising up to 180,000m3 of C1 stone (previously surveyed for C4). Package 22 arises 100,000 cubic meters of stone, package 23 at km68+00 is entangled in stone hills, clearing the ground for auxiliary branches.
Regarding the project progress, Standing Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Manh Tuan requested the investor and sectors to focus highly on solutions to optimize construction time.

Immediately remove the bottleneck of O Ro bridge of Deo Ca Group; the stone yard of Phuong Dong Group, treat sludge at package 20; the intersection bridge of National Highway 2 beams before January 10, 2026. For the newly opened section of 8.1km, quickly complete site clearance, quickly deploy infrastructure for resettlement areas, striving to complete before the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.
Previously, on December 19, the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway Project (phase 2) was also started. The project has a total investment of over 14,802 billion VND; implementation time from 2026 - 2030; route length is about 57.87km.
The Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway (phase 2) after completion will help complete the Phu Tho - Tuyen Quang - Thanh Thuy border gate expressway. From there, strengthen regional connectivity, contributing to improving transport capacity.
