Construction progress of the underground part reached 76.3%
Reporting on the project progress, Head of Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board Nguyen Cao Minh said that the Hanoi City Pilot Urban Railway Project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section has a total length of 12.5km, including 8.5km elevated and 4km underground, with 8 elevated stations (S1-S8) and 4 underground stations (S9-S12). The total investment of the project is 34,826 billion VND from ODA loans from 4 donors and counterpart funds of the city; implementation time from 2009 to 2027.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cao Minh, the elevated section from Nhon - Cau Giay has been completed and put into operation and exploitation from August 8, 2024.
The underground part of the project includes 4km of underground tunnel, 4 underground stations, 1 escape well, which are currently being implemented simultaneously, the construction progress has reached 76.3%, basically meeting the progress.
Accordingly, site clearance has been basically completed. The relocation of underground and above-ground technical infrastructure is carried out in parallel with the construction steps of the main project because the construction site is cramped, both constructing and ensuring traffic diversion.
For the construction of the underground section, including the tunnel and underground stations, basically closely follow the progress.
Accumulated disbursement to February 10, 2026 reached 25,258,583/3,4826 billion VND, equivalent to 72.53% of the total investment.
Reducing the area of barriers
Mr. Nguyen Van Manh - Head of CP03 bidding group, Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board said that to reduce traffic congestion, the Board has coordinated with the Department of Construction and related units to review and deploy the reduction of barrier area at construction locations, ensuring no impact on project safety and project progress.
In the S9 - Kim Ma station area (section from Thu Le lake to Nguyen Chi Thanh overpass), barriers have been narrowed with a length of about 400m, a width reduced from 0.5-1m; at the same time, the barrier opposite number 304 Kim Ma has been shortened by about 10m.
At the corner of Lieu Giai - Kim Ma intersection, the project has narrowed the fence into the construction site, opening a temporary right turn from Lieu Giai to Kim Ma with a width of 3.5m, contributing to reducing traffic pressure in the area.
At the escape well at the Kim Ma - Nui Truc intersection, gate barrier No. 1 was reduced by about 10m; the temporary road connecting from Kim Ma street below to Kim Ma street above was expanded from 6m to 12m, helping vehicles escape the intersection faster.
In the area of station S11 - Van Mieu (Quoc Tu Giam street), the area of the fence is reduced from Luong Su B alley to No. 25 Quoc Tu Giam with a length of 100m, expanding the road surface from 7m to 9m; and at the same time, 10m of the fence at the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam intersection is reduced to increase visibility and ensure smooth traffic.
At station S12 - Tran Hung Dao and the garage area, barriers on Tran Hung Dao street (section from Tran Binh Trong to Tran Hung Dao) are narrowed from 1-2m to widen the road surface. In parallel, the project adds decorative panels outside the fence, contributing to urban landscape embellishment.

Complete to where, remove barriers to that point
Directly inspecting the construction progress of underground stations, listening to reports on progress, items being implemented and plans for implementation in the coming time, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Trong Dong emphasized that the Hanoi City Pilot Urban Railway Project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section is the first underground Metro project of Hanoi City. This is a key transportation project, playing a key role in the sustainable urban development strategy of the Capital.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Trong Dong acknowledged the efforts of the Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board and contractors in the context of underground construction in the inner city area being cramped but still ensuring progress, while maintaining traffic organization, labor safety and environmental sanitation.
Emphasizing that Hanoi City is focusing on solving 5 "bottleneck points", including traffic congestion, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Trong Dong requested the Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board and construction units to focus all resources to continue to accelerate progress in a rolling manner; organize scientific and reasonable construction; study standards to carry out synchronous undergrounding of technical infrastructure systems... ensuring the project is completed on schedule and with quality.
In particular, wherever it is completed, remove barriers there to restore the ground, contributing to reducing local traffic congestion around construction sites.
